I've been to the Grand Arcade today and seen the new walk of fame & it is fantastic.

The walkway is running along side the new shop leading to a side entrance/exit to the arcade.

I'll put a couple of pics that I took on here later.

The walk of fame carries on with the likes of Boston, Gee and Sullivan etc

That looks great. Could signal the launch of another all mighty dummy spit by Latics men though. All round bad day for them men. A 2-0 defeat, practically out the Carling Cup with a draw against Arsenal and getting shown up again in the PR department. That sign above the Hall of Fame might as well declare 'THE TOWN IS ALL OURS'

I would have thought that Dave Whelan would make himself quite prominent being Mr Wigan and all. Would it be the DW Latics Walk? (You couldnt really say fame, what fame have they had?)

Named after the legendary Vladimir Springfield, who qualifies as a local lad by being born within 1000 miles of Wigan. Earned his "legendary" status with a legendary goal in the legendary 1-1 draw with Platt Bridge FC, that saved them from relegation from the Wigan and district League.

After the match, he said: "Everyone in my village in the Ukraine knew Wigan was the most famous club in the world, but it was only after seeing a roadsign that we found out they had a football team too."

What a great idea. Often people have spoke about how it would be nice to have some form of physical Hall of Fame or even a small museum. The latter is probably unrealistic but its good that Wigan's heritage is being acknowledged more in the centre of the town's shopping centre.

Hopefully room can be found to acknowledge the whole Hall of Fame and I would also like to see it made more of as a concept. There are certainly a few overdue inductees as well not least the first person on that wall - Andy Farrell.

Its about time he came back to the DW and got inducted along with getting the thanks from the fans of which he never received upon his decision to leave. And Yes he most certainly did deserve it - even if he did go to the other code.
