Regardless of what happens over the next four weeks, Wigan have had a super season and played some marvellous rugby. Some superb tries have been scored, surely it would warrant a Season Review DVD, something we have not had in years (not least because we have been poor).

IIRC - The club under DW/ML stated that due to piracy, it didnt warrant compiling an official DVD.

Surely, this is something the club HAS to look at reviving?

Let's say for £15 would you buy this seasons review knowing the cash spent is going through the club or would you be a 'knock off Nigel' and get a cheap copy for £2 ?

I would rather see my cash help the club and buy an official copy.
This could be a great Xmas stocking money spinner along with a new shirt, the club could make a fortune on them!!!

It depends on how much they charge for it i reckon. If they charge too much then knock off Nigel will have a field day but if they do it for say a tenner maybe it would be a goer. If we win the GF they will deffo do it but im not sure about otherwise.

£12 would be a decent price along with a signed picture of a player of your choice would be a great present for any kid especially.

The old season reviews - 88 to say 98 were top notch - a good 3 hours with interviews and presentation all the way through , and well worth £15! But the later ones especially 2004 and 2005 are about an hour long , just the try's with poor micron video commentary - i think this was the reason for poor sales rather than downloading.

Micron don't even put commentary on their DVDs now for whatever reason, thats a big shame. Anything is better than nowt.

John McDermott's commentary used to make the old ones class efforts but the increased coverage from Sky Sports made the season reviews most costly to produce I expect and thus I think thats why they fell by the wayside. I mean for a while Micron used to film their own footage, even if Sky televised the game, but eventually they stopped doing that.

They should release it on Blu-Ray only.

I was talking to John Oakes at Micron Video a while ago, and I asked him about the season reviews and the old match coverage standards.

He basically said that the internet and modern broadcasting make club videos unviable. The market demanded DVD, yet as soon as one was released, it would end up on the internet or being distributed illegally.

In the 80s and early 90s, it was entirely possible to copy VHS tapes, but it was an effort to do, plus there was no other way to distribute. I think Micron also did well out of video rental shops, which pretty much don't exist any more for obvious reasons.

Thats true. The video shop I went in had loads of games in.
