I was thinking today that maybe beacuse Wigan finished top they ahout AUTOMATICLEY be in the GF! AND THERFORE THE 7 remaining clubs play and the best team plays Wigan in the final

That would be a huge disadvantage to the top team.

They'd have like a month off without playing a proper game.

Just calm down, you're going to make the grand final. No need to start stressing about the format.

The only problem I have with this existing format really is the clubcall.

Now that we don't have relegation then we have to increase the number of teams in the playoffs, and there is an advantage the further up the table you finish.

I just think the club who choose are on a hiding to nothing, as whoever they pick will be given extra motivation.

It should just be highest placed plays lowest remaining place.


Actually thinking about it, the other thing that narks me is that in week 3 (?) you are supposed to end up with exactly the same fixtures as week 1.

We dont preform that well if we have a weeks break never mind 4. If we win this week we should have a full blown game next week for charity at Orrell get all the 20s and first team together each team can have 11 first team players and then 6 of the 20s Madge to pick one and Wane to pick the other. £5 entry fee and all to go to charity or expenses taken if the club want to keep them all one there toes and match fit.

If a team isn't as motivated as they could possibly be in a semi-final before the club call, then they aren't going to get there anyway.

There is no point in it because the highest ranked team will always choose the lowest rank as that is the 'natural' opponent and that would ahve been the fixture without the club call.

I just hope they go back to the top 6 format. Less than half the SL teams, big advantage to top 2. Top place straight to semi final, knowing a victory woould put them in GF, a loss gives them another home semi final. 3rd - 6th have to win 4 weeks on the trot to win the GF. It was perfect.

Top 6 was perfect. Why mess? Oh yeah - The Aussies do it, so it must be better.

Yep. In a 16-team league, top 8 is reasonable enough, but not with only 14.
