| While this week is the challenge cup semi finals does anyone think that Wigan's 71-10 victory over Bradford in 1992 was the best team performance by any League side or were Bradford really poor that day

| Biggest cheer of the day was Henderson Gill scoring for Bradford if I remember rightly.

| Didn't Northern have a young lad at fullback, had an absolute nightmare against a clinical wigan team reaching their pinnacle.
Martin Offiah owes Gene Miles over half his wages that year for putting everything on a plate for him

| I had the privilege to be at that game. For those too young to remember, it was an incredible performance by the whole team, but what a run of form Gene Miles was on in the second half of that season, he was just sensational every single game. It was centre play from a different planet.
No wonder Offiah waxes lyrical about the big Aussie, he was a RL genius. I've never seen a better wing/centre partnership than the one those two forged in that unforgettable period.

I always had that down as that team's peak performance. I don't think they were ever better, including when they beat Brisbane.

| Still remember Andy Gregory doing a hand to mouth 'yawning impression' towards the Wigan fans whilst walking back into his position after yet another try.
Happy days.

| Wasn't the first score an Andy Gregory drop goal?
1-0 and no idea of what onslaught was to follow.

Yep, its shown on the Youtube clip. Pity Gilly's try for Bradford wasn't shown.
Having looked at those clips made me realise something:
Gene Miles will be 50 next year..........!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember Gilly's try getting one of the biggest cheers of the afternoon, probably more from the Wigan fans than the Bradford fans considering the score.

| That was great, thanks, interesting to see Nobby trying to take off Derm's head and failing. I remember giving a great cheer for Gilly's try. Miles was the best centre I will ever see.

| I actually thought the 24-0 defeat of Leeds at Headingley later in the same season was the best performance that season.

| My favourite was the Challenge Cup 1st round 28 - 4 win in the snow at Castleford in 1991. The rugby played that night under those conditions and the provocation was unbelievable.
If you think the referees have it in for us now, and don't protect players, then you should have been there that night.

| We once played Swinton I think at Burnden, We punted to touch and the ball was spiked on top of one of the anti invasion spikes around the pitch. Never seen that again! Posts were borrowed from my school when we payed at Burnden.

| But... hang on ... wasn't Gene Miles and over-the-hill, 32-year-old Aussie who'd already been semi-retired to the second row in the NRL and came over here on short-term contract, probably for the money?
Thought I'd ask the question as the Stains & Dire fans seem to have missed this thread so far.

| Some good stuff on YT. Regarding Burnden Park - We also played a John Player final there against Warrington as well as a CC semi against Salford and and a JPS semi against Leeds (1987, lost) so we played there quite a few times. If I remember correctly the punctured ball was against Batley in the challenge cup first round in 1985 - Brett Kenny scored the first I think.
Some idiot called Wiganer1983 keeps posting vids from the like of Halifax away CC 1993 and Hull away in 1994 . Anyone wanting to see Phil Clarke at his best should have a look at the Halifax game in particular.
Just noticed the battle of Wilderspool New years day 1988 as well. Happy days. Also - Which game was Andy Farrell's 'big fat Garry schofield' comment after? Honestly can't remember that one!
