Great try. Very difficult to defend when he's twisting in the tackle like that. Good overall work rate from him as well.

The work rate from Davies has been superb so far. When he came on he helped change the game in Widnes' favour. His try was really well taken. Since then he's been taking the ball up strongly, sometimes twice in a set and has been involved heavily in defence too.
It's a very strong performance from him in the first half.

do anyone no how heavy he is though does nt look that big to me.

Anybody else think that Davies would have played on Friday if it weren't for this cup final? Obviously we should have priority over Widnes, but it would have been harsh on the lad for him to miss it.

I think Maguire may have thought it was a risk to throw him in at the deep end against a huge pack. He's only played 2 first team games for Wigan I think so I guess Madge thought Tuson would be the better option, and to his credit Tuson had a good game.

I definitely think Davies should be considered for selection against Hull this Friday. He's had a good game today. I think Feka might also be considered too.

It wasn't the best attempt from Ainscough, but you can't say Batley didn't deserve the win, they really did work hard for that. Exciting game to watch too.

One issue though...

I've not seen every game that Ainscough has played but he seems to not be able to lift himself off the floor to challenge any high kicks.

It's cost Widnes victory today and I've seen it cost Wigan at key points in big matches too.

Widnes just made too many unforced errors. Can't really blame Ainscough for that last try, not many wingers (other than Paaaaaat!) could have stopped it. Widnes kept losing the ball in their own 20, just put too much pressure on themselves.

Davies had an excellent game, though.

Totally agree. Also Ainscough playing with 2 injuries that has kept him from playing last couple of weeks. No excuses though I was there watching and the game was awesome!! Someone had to win (pity not Widnes) but all credit to both teams they gave us a brilliant game to watch.

I think we've probably seen the last of Aniscough at Wigan, yes.

Ben's been awesome for us all season, his attitude is fantastic. Not sure if you saw it on TV but at the end he came over to our fans and was devastated, close to tears. That says a lot about him considering he's not our player.

Ainscoughs confidence is completely shot to pieces by the looks of it, i feel sorry for him because he's a crackin player on top form

I hope he realises he is still only young and has a successfull RL career ahead of him if he puts his mind to it, talk of retiring from the game is ridiculous.

Ben Davies has been fantastic for us this year, will follow in Farrell's footsteps and play first team rugby regularly in the not to distant future I think. Just let him play for us in the play-offs please!
