| That kids a joy to watch, i think thats the first time i have seen him live and he's the type of player which people will pay good money to see. I realise it was against a youthful Vikings but the kids immense on his feet.
Cheers for the away support to, very good numbers as usual from Wigan.
All the best for the remainder of the season.

Cheers,
His pace and athleticism are a joy to watch. How much ground did he make up on the Widnes player who made the interception, and then to outrun Flynn when chasing back to cover the kick was amazing.
As you say it's worth the admission money just to watch him.

| As entertaining as the match was, it couldnt compete with the Widnes lady in the middle of all the Wigan fans at the back of the North stand. She was screaming her head off all game. When we hit fifty she shouted "right lads you've give em a head start lets get going now!" Hilarious.

| Sam was awesome today, whilst he deserves credit for catching the player who intercepted, Gleeson made it from the other side of the field and would have got him, huge effort.
Really enjoyed the game and stadium, slightly poor crowd imo, but definetly a SL standard experience.

Deffo more than 5504 there tonight. The East stannd holds 2400 and was full, the north holds 4200 I believe and was about 3 quarters full. I reckon if you put the people that were in the south in north then the north stand would have been full so wer were lookin around the 6600 mark at least!!

| Superb performance from Sam! I know it was against poor oppostion in reality but that has nothing to do with his chasing back and some of his great runs. He was given plenty of space though.

| There were times when I thought there were two of him on the pitch - he just seemed to be everywhere!
But no; there's only one Sam Tomkins...

| There was only one player on the pitch close to being man of the match. Sam Tomkins stood alone in that. Fair play to him.

| But Wigab have a 'duty of care' towards a young player like Sam. Maybe they shouldn't play him every game.

Good point. Last time he had such a wonderful game he was dropped for the rest of the season.

| Sam was great, every time he got the ball i was worried and his all round game is pretty good he was bouncing through our forwards at times.

| Absolutely sublime yesterday!
His performance yesterday was epitomized by that incredible run in the second half where he refused to be tackled, in which he travelled 60 metres, which got nearly every wigan fan on their feet applauding. Has been a marked man this year in most games, which is shown in why he isn't getting over the tryline as much, but has shown he can come up with individual brilliance to win games. For example, Warrington away, with his cheeky chip

| Like the above poster said he is marked man this season but yet he is still producing the goods. IMO he got off to a quiet start in the first few games, made a few bad decisions but lately he is coming on leaps and bounds. He is organising the team well and choosing the right moments to go on his awesome runs.
I might be biased but I would have Sam over Myler or Eastmond any day of the week. Hes got the lot but more importantly he has a massive heart and this is what you need more than anything to succeed at this level.

| We haven't had a true 10/10 individual performance since Andy Farrell's "mask" against Leeds in 04 - Saturday was another one.

I haven't seen Myler play, but as an Australian who has no bias towards any SL club, I rated Tomkins over Eastmond fairly easily from what I saw in the Four Nations. I don't watch any SL, so it really is only based on their Test performances (which have to be a fairly significant guage, no?), but where Tomkins was clearly ahead of Eastmond was in his ball handling and kicking skills. Tomkins looks like a very good half in the making, where Eastmond looked more like a typical NRL fullback to me (which is no insult, considering fullback is probably the NRL's strongest position).

I'd be curious to know whether the possibility of playing Eastmond at fullback will be in Mcnamara's thinking. Especially when he has Brown, Myler and Brough to consider as Tomkins' halfback partner. You would have thought Leon Pryce would be back in the mix somewhere as well.

My combination would be:
1: Eastmond
6: Tomkins
7: Brough
Eastmond can chime into the line and attack gaps which we all know he is good at doing, along with being effectively still an extra halfback option behind the normal line of play. Hes played there on a few occasions for Saints anyway.
Brough would complement Tomkins imo. Brough has a great kicking game and could take control of that aspect of the game giving Tomkins some more freedom. As well as this Brough is far more of an organiser than Brown, Pryce or Myler

brough needs to find some form if he's to be considered for International duty.

| 1. Eastmond
6. Sam
7. Myler
They need to be put together now, as they will be in place for 2013, assuming Saints can keep Eastmond in RL.

Tomkins or Myler would have to start to take control and guide a team round more if that Trio is to work. Especially at international level, we cant have halfbacks who are all running halfbacks or we'll struggle at times
