I think it equals our best start!

Will be ridiculous if we finish top and end up losing in the GF to Leeds who have finished 6th or something. I would be very annoyed. In 2000 I was p1553d off no end.

Just had a quick look, and in 1996, 1998 & 2000 we won 9 from our first 10

Yeah, according to everyone else's message boards though, we aren't a good side, we cant attack, we lie on to much, were ruining rugby league with our tactics, were too defensive, oh and were dirty.

, won League, Lancashire Cup, JPS Trophy, Premiership Trophy.

Lost 3 matches all season (2 in league to wire) and one totally heartbreaking loss away to Oldham in the challenge cup first round 8-10 on a bitterly cold night (postponed originally if I remember right)

Thats the nature of the comp though.

I've seen plenty of praise for Wigan all over these boards. You do lie on too much, no doubt about it, and I hope this does not spread to the rest of SL. However, it's a fair shout that Wigan have definitely been the best side in the comp so far this season. As for what happens in the play-offs, those are the rules, and ( dare I say it ) Saints have lost the title after finishing first more than once.

To be honest, if we maintain this level of performance over the season I actually won't be too disappointed regardless of what happens in the play-offs - that's the nature of knock out rugby, anything can happen.

I'm already totally made up with the team and the way they are playing, and think 2011 is going to be a very interesting time, especially with potentially a couple of new signings.

Oh yeah, I know they are the rules, I'm just saying I will be annoyed because i don't agree with it. I just beleive that the best team should be classed as champions. Saints finished top 4 years on the bounce because they were the best 4 years on the bounce. If we finish top this year, we will have finished top more often than Leeds in the Super League era. Yet Wigan have been poor in the Super League era. Get your head around that.

I'd rather play like this and lose the GF than play how we have been the past 5 years and win it cos we suddenly raise our game in the playoffs.

Though if this season continues like it has (touch wood), we could end up with something like a +600 GD which wouldnt be too shabby!

At the mo our average score a game is 35-13 - Not far off what we were averaging in the glory days!!

That drop goal we keep conceding is winding me up!

keep quiet about our "spoiling" tactics though, they'll be changing the rules again to make sure we don't "ruin the sport"

Great start!! The game we did lose, was only by 2 points and lets face it, it should never have happened.

Other clubs fans will say anything to make themselves feel better. "Wigan aren't that good", "they've peaked too soon", "theyve got no attack", "they're winning because they spoil the game", "same squad as last year" blah blah blah

i actually like the way wigan are playing this year and i said at the start you would be the guys to watch since they announced your new coach! i think you needed a boost and he is definately it, hes brought belief into your side!! i love watching wigan (although it hurts me to say that lol). good luck and heres hoping the injuries are kept at bay for you.

You've laid the benchmark for this year, but surely you can't maintain it for the whole season, I think you'll finish top, but I think that we'll still make the GF. But 9 out of 10 is superb and it so easily could have been 10 out of 10, well done Wigan.

The 'old' Wigan provided plenty of material for other fans' hatred. Personally, now you've kicked the Lindsey / Whelan era into history, your new regime is of upstanding quality and I thnk many (sensible ) fans recognise this.

To be honest I'm just pleased we are playing with some consistency I was nervous going to games over the past few years wondering which team was going to show up, the one playing rugby or the one that didn't want to. Keep up the good work lads.
