| Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage Press Release - March 2010
Quote The first =#BF0000Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage of the year is almost upon us, and what a huge game to kick start it with…Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos (26th February)!
Taking the stage for the first time, we welcome Finding Emo, who are hoping to make a stir with their music as well as their name!
Finding Emo (or Femo for short) formed in 2009 with plenty of passion from the 3 young hopefuls members, but no real organisation or structure. At the start of 2010 the bands frontman Scott Parry decided to make things happen with a fight or flight announcement that the lads should either go for broke or throw themselves into the melee that is the local music scene as they dreamed or continue with the lack of organisation and let the dream die! Thankfully for all the good people of Wigan, the boys decided to roll with the dream!
Since then, the band have never looked back and are looking to bigger and better days ahead!
Hailing from Today's Community Church in Wigan, the boys had already been playing together for about 3 or 4 years within New Breed, the church's youth band. However, with Femo, the boys want to concentrate on bringing their own style of writing and music to the forefront. The band would describe their music as mainly pop punk but with a twist of Northerness! Keeping things simple with a 3 piece set up, Femo dream of stadium gigs with people singing along to their happy-go-lucky tunes!
Lead man Scott had this to say about the appearance: "We're really excited to be playing the Warriors Showcase Stage outside the Stadium! It's also a bonus because we're all avid Warriors fans!"
"Unfortunately it's way too easy at times to hear negativity when people talk about Wigan, but we really love our town and we want to promote that as well as our music!"
"We're a new band with big ambitions and the readiness to put in the effort that it takes to reach the levels of success that we've only ever dreamed of. We understand that there's a long journey ahead littered with peaks and troughs but we plan to take every step with a level head and the knowledge that making wise decisions and a perseverance to succeed will continue to take us forward. We're so thankful to get breaks like the Showcase Stage because they're all steps towards the dreams. We're currently in the writing process but hopefully soon we'll raise enough money to get into the studio and get some real quality recordings done! So watch this space!"

The Warriors Showcase stage is now in it’s 6th Year and has seen scores of local original bands and solo artist performing for the gathering crowds. The bands start to perform an hour before the kick off time and the Stage is usually positioned at the side of the Billy Boston Stand (facing the Soccer Dome). Don't worry, they are far from Emo...more like Artic Monkeys if anything.
Nice lads and big Wigan fans too. 
I'm nobody to criticise bands for their dodgy choise of names...anyone who knows me will know of the tongue in cheek terrible names of bands I chose that took off and then I got stuck with them!!!  |

Now just need my fingers crossed for baby blue skies to prevent me from standing in soaking rain for 3 hours and then spending the whole game shivering when KO arrives!!! It's not a good look on me!!!  |
