| One of the reasons I chose not to go tonight. Not so much bothered about myself but would have had the kids with me. I haven't been back to HJ since the Wigan Cats semi, what I saw that day means I probably won't go again unless I'm kids free.
Hope you are both OK, and that the idiotic minority who were involved are caught.

| I’m very sorry to hear of your ordeal, violence in any context is wrong but after a Rugby League game and against a female is just disgraceful, I hope the police find the thugs. Also wish you and your girlfriend a quick recovery.

| That's terrible, I hope both of you are OK.
I attended the game tonight, but as per usual I don't wear any club insignia when visiting away grounds.

| Sorry to hear about your experience mate, let me assure you that this is a very small minority that give us this reputation, which unfortunately rears its head now and again. I had the same experience but with wigan "fans" a couple of years ago, in the same place, and realise that every club seems to have a gang of w@nkers that follow them. hope you get it sorted and wish you and your missus a speedy recovery, and hope it doesn't put you off returning, especially if the next game is as good. Great game tonight, hope its as good at your place.

| And wire fans had a go at me for calling them scum disgrace! There is no room for this in RL. They have the stadium, and the team, sort the foolish fans out.
Simply shocking. Wire fans are the scum of RL!
My own experience was ok, normally I get alot of stick walking back to the car but I assume thats cause they lost.

| The Police situation was a joke tonight! Wire have fans issues... its about time the whole of the street between the stadium and the train station was policed properly as this incident tonight underlines their thugish behaviour. iTs about time the RFL grew some b-llocks and acted against these thugs!!!

| Quote ="{Hogan}"I think after tonight there will be a few fans who may reply to this topic, walking away from the HJ tonight was one of the most awful experiences of my life, not just in rugby league but in my life.
Walking past the pub opposite central station (cannot remember the name) where about 20 Wigan fans, mixed sex and mix race before anyone says anything. We got marched away towards he town centre, about 10 Wire fans decided that they would make the situation heated. I foolishly decided to be peace maker between the rival fans only for one Wire fan to run at me and "stick the nut on me".
He didnt just stop at that, after head butting me he then carried on and punched my girlfriend in the face (looks like a broken nose) I have never ever been so shocked in my life, after trying to re gain my sences i pulled everyone away and attempted to head towards the train station.
The police are involved, the warrington club have admitted that they have a huge issue with fans causing problems.
This will be taken further, anyone who decided to hit a woman should expect what is coming.....I will report more after speaking to the police again in the morning.'"
Sorry to hear that mate hope she is ok but sadly I'm not in the least bit surprised. That pub opposite Central Station is always a problem. They let "fans" drink outside when they shouldn't. And that's why I chose not to travel home on the train.

| Wire do seem to have a larger loutish contingent than most clubs (Hull FC a close second i'd say). The majority of which choose to stand in the last third of their stand nearest the away end and chant 'Who the f**king hell are Wigan' for most of the match.
Nothing's changed in 25 years as they used to do it at Wilderspool, bad atmosphere and foul mouthed chanting regarding the opposition.
There are some sensible "older" Wire fans around dont get me wrong but I'm glad I dont have to support them (or take my missus and kids to watch them).
Small club mentality i'm afraid.

I'm very sorry to read that. Thugs like that get all us genuine fans a bad name.
I hope that your girlfriend is OK and that her nose is not broken.
Hopefully, the police have hold of the thugs and that appropriate action will be taken against them.
I'm really sorry that this incident has ruined what should have been a great night for you both.

| I get the feeling the 'dicks were out in force' as tonight was a big game and it was against Wigan.
I'm sure Wire Yed will back me up and say that if you had been playing Harlequins in front of 9,000...etc, the majority of knuckledraggers would have been absent tonight?

| All the best pall, any scum that hits a woman needs sorting out one way or another.
Sadly cannot say I am shocked though, on the 3 occasions I have been to the HJ stadium and the 1 occasion when I was in the town at the Supermarket while a game was on I have witnessed what seemed to me to be serious and more worryingly organised acts of violence.
Small town chav mentality seems to be rife on match day which is a shame and taints the quality fans of the club.

A night out in the town is about as safe as a US air force missile test.
The fact's are clear, people who go to Warrington have bad experiences. What are the club / police doing about it? It doesnt seem like alot does it?

The HJ though is one of only a few grounds I choose to keep my colours hidden on the way out back towards the car.

| I hope you and your girlfriend have a speedy recovery, it is absolutely disgusting what happened to you two.
I have been to pretty much every away ground and Warrington is the only one I worry about when I am wearing my colours. In fact this year as my friends and I walked away from the HJ, we completely covered our shirts and I took off my Wigan RL gloves just in case. Luckily my friend was driving to the game this year so we got to avoid the 'joys' of the train station were we have had Wire 'fans' trying to offer us a fight.
While I know these people do not represent Wire as a whole, better policing is definitely needed!

Didn't go tonight but I've been to loads of derby matches and Yes Matt i agree because i did go to the Quins opener and there was no atmosphere at all but with the derby matches they is definitely a more rowdy element.
Maybe the fact it was played in the evening giving all the morons the whole day to drink doesn't help.
One lesson we can actually learn from Football (early kickoffs)

| Twice I have seen problems at warrington.. The police really need to survey the street between the stadium and the train station. It is disgraceful behaviour. but Like others have said.. I am not surprised//Warrington are scum and if I had my way they would be removed from superleague as I would sooner go to a crap ground like Salford and come away unscathed, than go to Warrington and risk the chance of being assalted. What is more important?
