To be honest, he looks happier than he's looked for a long while now.

He's always chirpy in the interviews with Lovett and has a laugh with him so i'm not reading too much into that but hopefully he is happy and fired up for this season. We need him to have a big year and he needs to for himself more then anything to secure a decent deal either at Wigan or somewhere else.

Is it just me that thinks his face looks very thin in that interview? I'd like to hope he'd put on abit of weight but just going off that clip i'd say he looks to have even lost abit. I look forward to seeing all the player Sunday and look were they're upto fitness wise.

I think those who mentioned that Stu would have a new lease under a new coach may well be right. He looks re-invigorated and like all the players, is looking forward to playing a game...

Surely you want him putting on muscle mass and not just 'weight' as most people know it? Gaining in muscle mass wouldn't show in your face, whilst training as hard as they've been saying and getting fitter would indeed make you leaner and make your face look thinner.

Fingers crossed he's gained a stone in muscle but has been training as hard as we've been hearing and is that much fitter for it. Not that he was unfit in the first place!

I just hope he starts winning the collision and knocking some defenders over, he's been going down easier than Jordan in the last few years.

Yeah suppose so mate and thats why i said i'm looking forward to Sunday so much. It's all well and good hearing stories about how well trainings been going and how certain players are miles fitter but theres nothing like judging for yourself.

I like how he says this is the toughest pre-season he has ever experienced. For a player with over 300 Super League games, 11 years of Super League experience as well as many trips to Australia with GB and series in this country - makes that a big compliment to our backroom team and an indication of how tough pre-season has been for the lads.

Come on big Stu show us the real you .

I'd read something into it because he said that. He made sure everybody knew it's the same old thing people come out with year after year but this time it truely had been.

I believe them when they say this year has been their toughest pre season because i've not heard of the players hill running, swimming, going to army camps etc for a long time at Wigan and the results will be there for everybody to see going off whats been said about Feka and Riddell.

I just hope we can get off to a half decent start in superleague so the place doesn't go flat before we've even got going.

Willing to wipe the slate clean for him this year, he clearly showed he still has passion for the game last year when he scored his try against Wakey in the cup, lets hope Maguire and Wane can bring the best out of him and earn himself a new contract (on reduced terms obv)

Seem to recall a similar interview and thread around this time last year. We've had some good talkers over the last few years, time for them to put their words into action.

Sadly I have lost all faith in Fielden. I was a huge fan in the past and really believed that he could step up again.

I don't think he can now. Really hope he can prove me wrong.

Means nothing, he has years of experience talking to the press. His talking needs to be done on the pitch.

I really like him as a bloke but I just expect another non-exceptional, sub-expectation, incosistant and slightly fustrating season from him, which pretty much sums up his Wigan career.

No doubt there will be people jumping to his defence again, but which of the above descriptions would you disagree with?

Yeah, it could almost be the same interview as last year.

Still expect him to play like he is made of biscuits for most of the season.

When Platt and Skerett were past 30 they went fromworld class forwards to not very good forwards! i hope Feilden has had his day and is now a not very good forward player

I'm hoping that Shaun Wane can have a big influence in Stu's performance this year. If Fielden (and the rest of the pack for that matter) play with half of the aggression and determination that Wane did in his pomp we'll be a force to be reckoned with

There won't be any miracles with Fielden this season.

He may be slightly improved but another season of mediocrity awaits. Whether he stays or goes at the end of the year, at least whichever club he's at in 2011 will get far better value for money as any contract negotiated with him will reflect his current standard.
