| Do you think all the pieces are now in place?
Also for every group of players in the squad (apart from the centres) we've got a former international player to mentor and coach them.
Full Backs & Wing=Radders
Centre's=Maguire
HB's=Deacs
Props=Wane
2nd row & 13=Forshaw
Now i know not all the coaches are specific i.e Forshaw is a conditioner and Maguire is the head coach but still there are plenty of places our players can go for advice.
We’ve got the coaches & facilities that hopefully should lead to mass improvements in our talented but under performing squad.
Could this be one of the most important pre seasons in the clubs history?

| Is Forshaw still in the plans for next year? Seemed to be strong rumours a while back that he was deprating along with the rest of the back room staff.
All looks good on paper, although lacking some experience (not one of the coaches has been a head coach yet). Think we should leave it as it is. Any more signings and I think we are in danger of too many cooks.

I'm assuming Pendlebury.

I thought he'd left Rogues, or is he just moving from one role to another?

I thought I read somewhere that he’s staying at the club.
I don’t think anyone can argue against the statement that the head coaching role at Wigan was just too big of a job for him. That being said I am still happy to have him around as a No.2 conditioner and an extra helping and tactical hand at the club.

Changing roles I believe, just concentrating on coaching.

It can't be 6 months since he moved into Lydon’s old job of overseeing all aspects of coaching through the different levels at Wigan can it?

| I can't help but have the feeling that something special is in the offing here....
We've gone from "just getting by" with the usual 2 guys in charge to a fully professional (aka Ozzie) coaching setup.
We not only have (reputedly) one of the master tacticians from the NRL in charge, but IL has allowed him to recruit not just the usual Assistant Coach, but an ENTIRE Back-room TEAM.
We have a team on the field, who will now be coached by a team off-field.
I can only compare this to the top MMA fighters.
The best in the business wil have a separate coach for wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, fitness, etc..
If you are missing any one of those, then you have an obvious weakness in your game-plan
We now have the same kind of setup.
Specialist coaches for forwards, backs, half-backs, conditioning (now also a team). All of this will free up at least some of the head-coaches time to construct a real, actual game-plan.
When was the last time that we saw Wigan game-plans that were tailored to the individual team that we're playing against.
(When was the last time that Wigan had anything resembling an actual game-plan for that matter) ???
I just hope that we either have or recruit a nutritionist and (if necessary) a mental-coach (no, I don't mean Millward - We all know he's a f***ing mental coach).
I think that Wigan might have just started the biggest revolution in British Rugby League since we instigated full-time professionalism all those years back.
I can (honestly) see us dominating, maybe not this year but almost certainly next year, due to the utter professionalism of the coaching team, and wouldn't be at all surprised to see teams like Leeds/Saints follow suit in a year or two.

I understand the optimism but I'm adopting 'the proof's in the pudding' approach before getting too excited.

A reliable source tells me it's St Pats coach, think his name is Darren Fletcher. You heard it here first if it's true

Your spot on but I think the time thing is missing the point. MM would of had time to come up with tactics and a game plan but we are just used to seeing the same old thing with Noble.

| On paper it looks a fantastic setup. I don't think for any position so far we could have appointed anyone better, who was available and would come to Wigan. We now have three coaches in Mike MaGuire, Shaun Wane and Paul Deacon, a specialist halfback & kicking coach in Paul Deacon. A new comprehensive Strength and conditioning team in Mark Bitcon, Mike Forshaw and Mick Turner. It all looks very promising on paper and I share other people's optimism.
I just hope we can complete the puzzle and appoint the right men for the job for the Reserves and Academy to build on the hard work of Shaun Wane and John Pendlebury. You would expect Kris Radlinski to be in there somewhere which I would be very pleased with & then the other is open to speculation.

| Things are looking good yes, but lets be realistic first. The step up may be too much for MM and all this could blow up in our face. It's ok being a stand-in Head Coach for a week while the boss is away, but can he do it full time? If so then I agree we are in for a cracking future.

My personal choice would be Lam and Radlinski! I have no doubt Radlinski will be our assistant to Wane when MM leaves.

But is Adrian Lam realistic? Will he up root his family from PNG/quit his job and come and live over here in the UK for a job (he has already done) as Wigan reserves coach? No, is the answer and it is problems like these that the management faces and with that in mind, makes the appointments made more admirable.
