| In the current side, Phil Bailey, gets through a load of work, with little praise for it and we miss him big time when he's not on the park.
In all the time I've watched Wigan, Kevin O'Loughlin, played every position except prop.

| My God. How much longer do I have to put up with these type threads?!
This one might cause abit of controversy (sp?) - Tim Smith. I wouldn't dare to say he was/is the most under-rated player ever, but I certainly think he was under-rated.
Lights Fuse. Stands back...............

Sam, yeah good choice; for me it would be Steve Hampson just got the impression no one really knew how good he was.
As for recent players George Carmont.

Took a lot of stick due to his defence (which was as equally shocking in the NRL yet he got away with it because of his position in the line) and the fact Sam was waiting in the wings. If we had him+sam working under maguire now it would have been extremely interesting.
An organising 7 with an excellent passing game with a dynamic off-the-cuff stand off, playing under a ex-coach of one of the best attacking teams in the world.

Given the huge debate over him getting a new deal with many wanting him signed up again I don't think he is underrated by the fans at all.
The most underrated player in recent seasons was Scott Logan. A change of coach from Millward to Noble transformed his season much as it did Richards and I was gutted he left early because it was plain to see with him in it our front row ended up as one of the best of 2006. We have never matched it since and Fielden has suffered from not having a player like Logan alongside him ever since.
Of our current team the most underrated player is Hansen.

Haughton underrated? Highly rated (by the fans) disappointment more like. He started off really well but faded badly. One person who didn't rate him was John Monie.

Fantastic at coming into the line in the centres and causing havoc in the opposition defence.

Agree with HH, definitely an under rated player in our team. Gets through a ton of work and has limited time on it but yet is always in the top stats in defence, but yes could do more in attack and hopefully something the new coaching staff can help him with. For a forward HH has very quick feet and for me is a vital part of our team that must be kept as he will be our Phil Bailey when he does leave.
I'd like to add Mossop in, I think he's been over looked on here on a few occasions and doesn't get the praise he deserves, it's not easy being a young forward mixing it with the big boys of SL but Mossop for me has stepped up every time this year and puts himself about big time. Can't wait to see how his future develops at Wigan.

To be honest mate, alot of Wigan fans didnt really think much of him. Someone actually quoted him as being very over rated. I totally agree with your selection however. I would give anything to have a hooker who can take the pack around like he could. He got taken out in the first few minutes against Leeds at Central Park in 1998 and we were very poor without him

His (Haughtons) attitude to the game was terrible for someone with so much ability he was one of the laziest forwards I've ever seen at Wigan.
I also agree with DaveO about Hansen and Logan.

Haughton was one of those players though that didn't have the same passion for the game that other players had, Haughton only played the game because he was good at it, I believe he never watched a game of RL if he wasn't playing it.

| What happened to Haughton. He looked like he was going to be the worlds best back rower. He was awesome and then just disapeared!! Doesnt he hold the record for most tries scored in a season at any level. Sure he does, something silly like 70 tries or something at amateur/youth level.

| I'd say Terry O'Connor.
I know he was recognised as a good player by the fact he was picked on a regular basis for GB but here at Wigan he was playing in teams over the years containing the likes of Robinson, Paul, Lam, Radlinski, Farrell, Newton etc which meant his contribution to our side was probably a touch un-noticed.
As a player he just made yard after yard allowing the guys mentioned above to get in the positions to work their magic.
If only we had a prop as good now.
