| From today's League Express, even allowing for say a 10% error rate this tells a story:
Graham drives 20 metres 147
Puletua 13 - 111
Faasavalu 15 - 105
Hargreaves 5 -24
Total 53 - 387 (av 7.3)
Coley 16 - 94
Prescott 9 -61
Fielden 12 - 60
Paleaasina 11 - 63
Total 48 - 278
av 5.8
If you look at the stats regularly you need your props to be achieving 100 metres to win a game.
So no real surprises here - looking at these stats we did well to get close at the end.

| It was lost when long put Tomkins in touch after he was tackled, we should of won the game IMO, Saints didn't take enough chances and we should of punished them!

see your point! what was the tackle count for the props? sorry not picked up a league express this morning. Maybe this will change peoples opinion of Coley being our worst prop, although by no means are his metres fantastic.

We didn't help ourselves early in the 2nd half either when we kept dropping to much ball inside our own half giving us more tackling to do and unable to get in their half as much as we'd have liked. We just don't help ourselves at times in big games like these.

Agreed. But I think Saturday night's performance pretty well encapsulated the general problems that we've suffered all year - lots of effort but no real orgnisation, no cutting edge, poor decision-making, mental weakness, headless chicken type panic. If you looked at Saints, who have been average by their own standards at the end of this season, every time they got possession they fell automatcally into a well structured offensive pattern, moving the ball with exhilarating speed, which left us scramblng madly to contain them. When we got the ball we were plodding it upfield in ones and twos. Whereas they seemed to make 50 yards minimum with each set of six, we were lucky to make 30.
I feel those who are bemoaning the loss of Noble need to get real. Yes, he's got us to five semis, but with the exception of the last 10 minutes last night, we've never looked like getting any further. At that level of football, bravery is not enough. Individual heroics only rarely get the better of teams who compete as well-oiled, machine-like units.

The two semis were both won narrowly by the home teams and showed to me that while there isn't as big an advantage as there used to be for the top 2 sides, they do still have an advantage. When there is little to choose between sides this can be the key factor.
Sad to say but the poor start to the season probably did cost us a GF place; had we be playing at home the result would probably have gone our way.

How can you say that !! he's a liability !! lost the ball more than once in our own half, he gives away penalties (that led to a try for stains), he had missed tackles in crucial areas, and he never smiles (!)
but if the stats says he makes the most yards thats all hunky dory eh?

I believe we had numerous chances to win before that incident. It was just another example of us coming so close but not executing well enough on the day.

Andy is a 4th or 5th prop who is asked to do a 1st choice prop's role.

when did he loose the ball on sat? not once, that was prescott you moron!!. please re watch the game. they did not get a try off that penalty where he nearly beheaded gilmore. REWATCH THE GAME!!
how many tackles did he miss in crucial areas? 1, is this any different than all our players. How many did he make in comparison to other props???
what are you watching at all? By far our best work horse prop.

fair point that he is 4/5th choice prop and being made to play 1st but there is little choice and how can you justify dropping him when his stats are better (slightyl) than the others?
what is this Coley hatred on this board? I dont think he is the best prop to ever be bought but a hard worker.

A quick defensive line will always be a problem for Feka. He needs to get a head of steam up to smash through defenses. If they're in his face as soon as he gets the ball, then he'll struggle.

| Surely one of the main reasons for there props making more yards, is that when there props get the ball they are already running. Our props on the other hand always seem to have a standing start.
Thats just my Opinion

But it's a correct opinion.
And it's one of those basic rules of RL that we seem to have neglected over the last few years.

I would agree, but who do we lay the blame on for this and how do we correct it. Is it as simple as piggy's distribution being poor or is it others players either not running on to the ball from distance and others not running of the ball to take heat of the intended ball carrier.
Either way it should be an easy thing to correct for the new coach, and if we can fix the little things up in are game they all add up into much improved performances.

| Our players weren't running onto the ball and we were clueless in attack. All season we've played off the cuff and a good defensive effort showed us up for it. We could really do with a half back partner for Tomkins with some vision, good passing and good kicking, basically a Smith without the defensive drawbacks. However, I doubt whether we can afford such a player this year.

Now lets not go down that route now.
Noble has been blamed for the 'clueless attack' for the past 3 years yet now hes gone its because we need a halfback (something Noble apparently wanted to sign).
If Noble was the cause for our attack being poor then surely this new coach is going to fix that up?
BTW i dont agree with the clueless comments. Weve scored plenty trys this year to back that up. When a team looks clueless i prefer to believe the defending team should get some credit. On Saturday Saints defence was superb as was ours for the best part of the game.

Agreed. We didn't exactly look 'clueless' against Hull KR. We put some together some very good attacking plays.
