His counter attacking run just prior to Tomkins' 3rd try was a joy to watch and essentially won us the game. His pace, agility and handling skills from the fullback position give us a great attacking weapon and I'm excited about how good he could become for us. Solid defensively as well. I was one of the fans who wanted him out the door at the start of the year and what an idiot I feel like now. Credit must go to Nobby/Lenagan for bringing him over.

Same as from me. They talked about Leigh wanting him and I actually felt abit sorry for them



His form since switching to fullback has been unbelievable and he just gets better and better in the position. He has a little work to do under the high ball but he's getting there. His one on one defence has been as safe as house because he's so brave and his counter attacking skills are right up there with any superleague fullback.

now hes one of the first names in my team..Wont belong before hes going the length of the pitch hes a great find by the club.

The only weakness I see in his game is he can be a little shaky under the highball but I'm sure with work it'll be fine, but as for everything else I totally agree he's becoming a very dangerous player for us and could next year be up there with Briscoe and Webb as one of the best FB's in the game.

For me is evasion and step are his real asset, and it's nice to have a fullback again who offers something in the way off attack when returning the ball, one thing I would like to see him improve would be his support of the ball carrier though.

That is an area he could work on. He does seem to play a little wider as a fullback then the majority though and doesn't sniff around the middle as much as the likes of Briscoe or Greenshields.

He plays like an extra halfback in attack at times and runs wide linking up with the centres and wingers.

Overall he's been so impressive and the great thing is i believe he will improve as he gets more experience in the position.

Fully deserving of the praise he now gets.

Him or Sam for player of the season tbh.

i maybe one of a few but i liked him from the start , sort of knew he would come good,, i think it was just his general attitude that came acrross very positive,

We did a 1, 2, 3 best players for last season and me and (the normally an idiot) Hogan stuck him as Number 3 and got bagged on here for it. Proven since we knew best I reckon!

Having said that I'd like to see him score more tries in attack though. Seeing as he ended up a makeshift full back this season hopefully they can work on some moves in the winter.

I'm with you.I think his attitude has been great from the start.Remember his face after scoring his first try on his home debut.Our player of the season for me.

I must say i did not see him as having a long term future at Wigan but if he continues the way he has been for much of this year there is no way we could allow him to leave the club, he is playing some great rugby and deserves the plaudits he is currently receiving.

Most improved player by a long way.

Easily up there with our best performers this season like Tomkins, Lockers and Leuluai.

Leuluai should get player of the season imo for his consistancy throughout the year but those 2 would be 2nd and 3rd.

Locky for me, think he has had an outstanding season.

Not bad choices there

I wasn't keen on Phelps, but since his move to fullback, he has been improving into a good 'un.

I also note a hint of 'the master' in his play though.

It's quite clear that Radlinski has been offering some help in Phelps game.

This has been mentioned alot but Rads has merely gave him a few pointers on the odd occaision, that's it.

There has been no one on one coaching or anything.
