| Wigan won 30 - 28
A really tough game made even harder by the fact that Wigan had only 3 fit subs at the start of the game (Joe Mellor was named but unfit to play and sat on the bench for the full 80)
Then after 20 minutes Stuart Howarth was stretchered off with what looked like a very serious leg/knee injury.
Do for 60 minutes they only had two fit subs and did very well to hold on. Stefan Marsh was probably the m.o.m. from a Wigan point of view but they gave away far too much ball and too many penalties.

| sorry to hear Joe Mellor is unfit. How did he get injured, nothing to bad I hope?
He is a good player and a good person, hope he isn't out too long.

Previous years we would have been down to playing kids with no experience.

| For those who went, who do you feel may be up to playing for the first team next week, with us probably missing O'Loughlin, McIlorum and maybe others.

| I thought we were lucky to get the win today as we were second best for large periods of the game. Having said that it was good to see some good, determined defence near our own line which helped us keep well ahead until near the end of the match.
The players capable of stepping up IMO are Flanagan and Farrell, both were very good for us again and Flanagan can play at 6 if required as well.
As some people have suggested on other threads that Ainscough should come in to the side next week I would also say that I thought he was quite poor today for the reserves, he lost the ball in tackles and dropped passes a few times today as well as letting the ball bounce in goal and this allowed one of their second rowers to gather it. Luckily the way it bounced meant he landed dead in goal but could have cost us a try. He should come back at some point but not at the moment for me. Noble shouldn't have publicly stated it in the way he did but the lad does have faults he needs to work on and the reserves is the place to do it.

That was my match report to a tee really. It was the post Howarth injury to just before half time spell which was dominated but unrewarded by Quins that provided pivotal. Flanagan's late first half try flattered Wigan. Great defence - left them tired late on though.

I overheard Stefan Marsh telling Shaun Ainscough it was "same thing again" so maybe it's the ankle again.

I think I'm about to open a real can of worms here but does that indicate maybe the medical staff at Wigan coc*ed up abit here? Brought him back too early? Didn't do the correct rehab with him?
Either way I hope he recover's soon!

Can hardly accuse them of that. I mean he's been 100% this season in appearances.
