Well done to St Cuthberts who won today in the Ken Gee cup semi final.

They are now in two finals in two days; Saturday in the National Cup, and the day after in the Ken Gee Cup.

How unfortunate that this outstanding achievement will be marred by the fact that Cuthberts will be forced to field a weaker side in the Ken Gee Cup final, as no player could attempt to play in such critical matches on two consecutive days.

Bridge

Rumour has it that WsC requested if they get into the final, that it be moved a week later so they can play in both and feild their strongest possible teams in both matches, hope this is true because the final will be a cracking game if both teams are at full strength.

I hope they see sense and delay the Ken Gee by a week. It's not often we have a local side in the amateur national cup final and they should be supported in that.

Good luck to them though. It'd be a massive achievement if they won the National Cup Final, especially coming from the NW Counties. I think a Wigan side has only won that competition once (St Pats in 198icon_cool.gif.

Ive got a feeling Judea may have also, or did they just reach the final? Or have i dremt up both



Good Luck to Cuthberts though, the 2nd half of the season they seem to really have picked up some form and have beaten a few very good teams to reach the final. Lets hope they delay the Ken Gee match because them v Bridge will be a cracker with a full strength Cuthberts team and is one i will deffinatly be going watching if im not playing the same day

Which final?

Cuthberts play Siddal in the BARLA National Cup Final at Flyde RLFC 3:30 on Saturday.

Then they play Ince Rose Bridge at Rose Birdge on Sunday in the Ken Gee.

For some reason i thought Judes had won the national cup once, the one Cuthberts are playing Siddall in. I know the schedualing of the games though, I think im going over to blackpool to watch the match

I hope so to, i get copied in the emails regards the Ken Gee, so will advise on here if i get any news.

Was told on Facebook by someone that Cuthberts asked and Rose Bridge are happy to delay but the organisers won't budge.

Bridge had to back up 2 x seasons ago after playing in the National Cup Final the day before (I think about 5 backed up and the rest were 2nd teamers, I remember Tony Baker & Andy Eatock backing up.).

I think Cuthberts will be doing a mix as well. Did Rose Bridge win that day btw?

Can't remember? I was there and I remember it being a Red Hot Day!

They had a Bar outside selling draught but best of all a SKIP full with Ice and Cans being sold out of it!

Last thing I remember was talking to our Trigger at about 10 o'clock in the evening and he was still cut up from the loss the day before!

A NWC "Stitch Up!" I think I remember him calling it!

I was on the in-goal for that one, can't remember the result

There is a Wigan Cup Under 16s final prior to the Ken Gee, kick off 1pm

The game is between Wigan St Pats and New Springs Lions (+10)

The cup has been run with a handicap system, Springs being from 1 division below Pats will recieve 10 points start.

Just been told that St Cuthberts Lost 38-14 in the national final today against Siddal. Lets hope they can make up for it by beating Rose Bridge tomorrow (Which i cant see personally)

RoseBridge won that one by 4 points, I know because I was on the losing side, St Pats. They won it with a kick to the corner in the last minute of 8MINS added time.
