| Don't risk him.
We have Joel Tomkins who is more than capable of filling in. Some may argue Joel Tomkins should be above Hansen in the pecking order.

| Hansen is quality IMO but I would love to see a young player get a chance, in the cup against wakey I would like to see us play Mossop as well, these games away at tough places like wakey give young players great experience.

| Its no loss at all. Weve got some really good backrowers in the reserves who are more than capable of stepping up.

| Hansen, Bailey and Lockers are all too similar imo to carry in a 17 man squad. I think you can play 2 of them but it all beocmes abit predictabke when they all play.
All things considered Hansen is probably the weakest of the 3 so he'd be struggling to make my 17 at the minute.

| Give him a rest. Hock, Tomkins, Lockers and Bailey should be fine. The problem is the props don't give them any momentum to work with, and it's a defensive backrow as it is.

I'd disagree..I'd say just Hansen and Bailey are too similar.
Locky's tackling technique is different and compliments those two perfectly, as long as we hunt in packs in defence - something we don't always do and let ourselves down.
Also Locky's attack is far and away better than either of those, especially lately.

Agreed hes stepped it up this year its really pleasing to see as we all know he had it in him. Lets hope it continues.
Locky is an absoloute brutal defensive player. His defence is absoloutly awesome he doesnt just tackle people he absoloutly nails them every time. The Saints game a few weeks ago is a perfect example.

| Blessing for me!
Simply play a back 3 of
Hock Lockers
Tomkins
----------------
With Farrell given the nod from the bench. This will never happen, it'll be
Hock Bailey
Lockers
-----------
Tomkins

| Tomkins offers some great attacking running as he runs some great angled runs ... so yes I agree he should be in there to offer more than the 3 defensive guys mentioned already!

| Hansen is a solid player but in all honesty it probably says a lot that not many Wigan fans who've posted are all that disappointed that he's not playing.

We don't need them too. We have Hock, Bailey, Lockers & Tomkins to operate as the back 3 + sub.

I agree.
Cool tattoo but another player who can be replaced with ease.
Like as already been said we just have too mnay players in this mould that are solid enough but that dont really strike any fear in the opposition.

I think Hansen will be one of the first example of Wigan using its youth policy wisely.
For this arguement please disregard additional issues that may have been involved.
In the past youngsters such as Brown, Robinson, Hargreaves etc, you know, the young players we released and replaced with older players bought in. Everyone pretty much agrees that in the past few years young players havent been given a true chance to prove themselves and have been replaced by what was considered to be a quicker fix to a problem.
IL stated when he joined the club that the young players we produce would be used more than under the previous management and Hansen's situation at the moment might be a proof of what IL said he would do at the club.
Hansen has had a good 4/5 years to play and has been allowed to earn his place in the team and has proved so far to be a good addition to the regular 17. However there are now players like Mossop, Farrell and most importantly Joel Tomkins who are ready and dying for a chance at the 1st team. Tomkins, having been given a chance has now proved that he is almost ready to displace an experienced (and international) player in Hansen.
I think its a great sign for the club in a way, showing that by sticking with young players can prove valuable and in some instances some can surpass previous young stars of the club. Hansen is by no means a poor player and is good at superleague level. But it might just be an example of an occasion where we have to let a player who came through our academy go AND there be a good and inspiring reason for doing so.

Because he is considered by some not to be a first team regular.

That is a reasonable argument except for one thing. Tomkins is a 13 not a second row.
The player he should IMO "replace" is Lockers. I put replace in inverted commas because Lockers should move to 2nd row.
In 2010 (when Bailey leaves I assume) Hansen would be the bench 2nd row to come on to give either Hock or Lockers a breather and it's a big call to say any of the more junior back row forwards at the club who play in the U21's are capable of taking that role off Hansen in the near future.
Of course this assumes we employ a coach with a brain and the guts to tell Lockers he is a 2nd row....

Chris has only played one reserve team game (off the bench) this year.
I don't know if he played in the reserves v Wakefield yesterday (Alex?), but he is nowhere near fit enough (or big enough) yet for first team Rugby.
