| Whilst yes, the competition is won in Oct... It can also be lost in Feb. Every single point is important, thus a good start to the season is just as important to a good end of the season.

| if we lose at quins that is the season over 4 losses now and definate losses at least once each to bradford leeds, and saints will see us finish about 8th with no hope of reaching the final.

Agreed. The first few matches give you a platform to build on, you have a soul destroying start like we have had and the confidence drains.
Over the past two years yes the Noble way of doing things has got us one game away from the GF. But due to poor starts and inconsistency over the last few years we stood no realistic hope in the final illiminator.
Not really looking much different this year so far is it other than we have got off to an even worse start

| Agree that 3 defeats is not good ,and its better to get off to a flier , but every team in the comp will go through a poor spell at some time .
I think its too early for all the doom & gloom .
Getting shut of Noble now will only put us in another transitional period , I think we have had enough of that dont you .
Let him see this year out , if things dont turn around , then he will have had the time , so we can bring someone in then .

| At worst, Noble will only be coach at Wigan for the remainder of this season. Wigan, and Wigan fans, will be here forever.
Don't despair. Keep the faith.
That said, I'm too despondent to partake in the other threads. It may be a day or so before I can post coherently.

The end of this season is just writing the season off. I'm not willing to do that after already paying my money up front.

Exactly the way I feel.

Clearly it is the point he was making as thats what he said.
Basicly the club and everyone invloved is taking the fans for complete mugs!
First we dont get to play our playoff game at home! IL should have shown some minerals and done whatever he needed to do to ensure that didnt happen!
Second no shirts for start of season, ok due to current financial climate i can understand this
Third. Such a poor start to the season is unacceptable! All the teams i have seen so far have improved from last season, we have gone backwards!!!
Four. Throw away comments like nobles, is basicly saying we dont care about the week to week as long as we in top eight it will be ok.
That in my opinion is just not acceptable! Sugar coat it however you want to but i am not wasting any more time and money on this club. If i hadnt already paid for my season ticket, i wouldnt even be going to the home games. Just wait for the playoffs and have a two game season, as quite frankly they are taking the p*ss!!!
Im not a glory hunter or a bandwaggon jumper, i just want to see heart passion, pride and commitment, and i dont appart from Feka, Hock, Lockers, Hanson, Ainscough (outstanding last night).
The club needs to realise that they cannot take the fans for granted!!!

| Unfortunately with a top 8 play off system it makes you wonder whether its worth the bother of turning up week in week out anyway no matter how your team is performing.

| Thing is, for the last 2 years it's been the same story, dodgey starts and an inconsistant season but in the last 8 or so games we could beat anyone. But run out of steam to get to the GF. Personally I'm getting bored of it

In that case I guess you'll just have to stay away.
It's a reasonable reaction after the last three weeks, and from last night's crowd, others are already doing that.
Personally, I'm keeping going. Call me a mug, but massive support from the terraces was complicit in our survival a couple of seasons ago.
At some point Noble will be a footnote in Wigan's history. Let's, the rest of us, keep going and keep showing the flag. As long as we stay firm, the club's future is guaranteed.

| The only point Noble is making is that its not time to throw the baby out with the bath water just yet. In relation to what we are trying to achieve losing 3 games is not the end of the world. So yes,Humpty Dumpty has fell off the wall and needs putting back together but nothing has been won or lost just yet in terms of trophys.

And there is still chance he will be hailed as a legendary Wigan coach as quite rightly he points out that things are won in October not February. If Noble steers us to a GF win in October nobody will care about the early season losses.
For the past 2 seasons we have been one game away from getting to the GF. In both the final eliminators we have lost out to the team who have gone on to win the GF the week after by considerable ease. There is no saying just yet that we cannot go one step further this year. Its far to early to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Its top eight this year of course we will be in the shake up!!! That doesnt mean we should accept mediocraty, which at the moment i would take with both hands!
And of course he has confidence in the squad and himself, but does anyone else? I dont. Show a bit of heart and we fold!!
But your right it wont cost us the league, being out-enthused will cost us that! Its only week 3 and we have been out-enthused 3 times.
In the next 3 games we have leeds bradford and quins! Looks like being 0-6 (however they may be interested in playing leeds so you never know)
But dont worry cos come playoff time (august) we will be fired up and ready to play at the business end of the season!
Pathetic!

So basically we're watching friendlies used to get the side ready for the big assault on the Playoffs? Are we to be entertained by the opposition walking through our defence? Are we to laugh along with the opposition fans mocking us?

Personally, I'd agree with Noble. The season nowadays has just become a warm up for the PlayOffs. The Minor Premiership is the equivalent of winning a dinnerplate and has little or no value. What you do in February/ March, although obviously going to have an impact if you lose constantly, is irrelevant. The start to the season doesn't really mean anything, it's how you finish that counts. Look at the slow start at Saints last year. They didn't really start truly playing till mid-April, won/ drew every league game since and then flunked in October. October is the month you wanna start winning games. October/ September are the only months that REALLY matter in the RL calender nowadays.
We should expect to see good rugby for what we pay, but essentially what Noble is saying is correct.
