| Quote ="Jukesays"I didn't have time or the inclination if I'm honest to reply earlier (edit- just re read this and realised it may look like I'm meaning to yourself. when I say about not replying, should have said and meant about replying to the post you replied to. So i meant im agreeing with you).
You've just about scraped the surface of why they're wrong
Imagine saying you can pay in February the same price as someone who paid in August
Imagine not knowing in February what your income is for 2023 and yet fans want signings and the club to pay max salary cap, buy players, and yet the club have no idea what their income is for 2023
Auto renewal etc is a DISCOUNT
For paying early, for putting your money up front
We can go around this a million times
The prices at Wigan are favourable to other clubs in the vast majority of categories and instances
Why do other clubs charge what they do? Why do they offer Discounts for early purchase and payment? Note - DISCOUNT
If things are so poor pricing wise at Wigan, why are crowds still comparably good, and why are other clubs charging more?
And
And I have to admit I'm not 100% on this
But been told today that if you buy an auto renewal package this season you are entitled to the discount from year 1??
May be wrong on that
Why did your mate not buy at early bird price?
Why did he not take up the finance options?
Why not call all tickets early bird/auto renewal price as you suggest, and then find out at last-minute that half your fans don't buy them and end up with less income, last minute? What impact will that have on the club?
Why not consider that that the correct price is the price for a ST and the early bird/auto renewal is a DISCOUNT
Because the second you count the early bird price as the standard price, someone will be looking for a discount on that price as well, and then it'd a race to the bottom.'"
The basic premise was sign up to the early bird offer and always receive the best price for your season ticket. As you mention start changing eligibility criteria to claw back lapsed fans and no one will sign up early in case a better deal pops up.

Absolutely, and as you and others have said, the early bird prices are available to everyone.
I can't believe that the idea that someone that was a customer the year before getting a better price than someone that wasn't causes so much confusion/annoyance. It's literally the same in 99.9% of businesses. I can buy a number of things in Tesco for less than someone else can. Absolute scandal!!!!

Why not make all seats £235 as long as they are bought before the first home game, with the only perk for auto renewals being they get to retain their seat?'"
If I buy a train ticket on trainline for a train in 3 months time, then I will probably pay less than someone sat next to me that pays on the day.
Ultimately, if someone travels on that train every single day and has an annual pass then they'll have paid less for the seat next to us than the both of us.
Bloody rubbish trains!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Match day and season tickets are still very reasonably priced.
The issue is not prices!

| I’ll be interested to see if clubs like Leigh, Wire and HKR continue with the big pre match shows (and obviously KR have the fan village at one end) and then to compare their crowds to teams having similar seasons, but who don’t do a great deal pre match. Will enough people turn up and turn up early enough to make it sustainable and profitable?

And what me and a few others have pointed out is that thousands of people pay approx 6months early up front to take advantage of that.
Wigan get the money early and are guaranteed that 1million pound or so up front
It is a DISCOUNT For doing so
As stated now numerous times people can still set up the Auto Renewal, so there's no excuse, unless they don't have any intention in the first place.
Set Match day prices and non auto renewal at same price Pro rata as the auot renewal STs and people won't buy the STs, they'll just pick and choose.
Reduce tickets to that price and no way will an extra 5000 come through the gate to offset those reduced prices

Fantastic news - seems like a few other clubs have seen similar rises in sales. Potentially a World Cup effect or positivity/influence of IMG involvement (I'm sure they've had influence over the opening fixture entertainment). I did get the feeling that the standard/entertainment improved slightly in 2022 after a real low period across 2019-2021. Saints WCC win and increases broadcaster interest for 2024 and beyond is further good news. Maybe/hopefully the sport is at the beginning of an incline.

| We should see a reasonable rise in the average attendances this year with this news and also you’d imagine a crowd of at least 20k on Good Friday. I saw an announcement of a community area in the ground as well, which is in line with what I hoped we’d do in trying to get more of the local juniors that play the sport, in to the ground.
Let’s hope for a positive night tomorrow to kick things off.

Great news this.
England making the wc final and competing would have been a great boost to SL which is one of the reasons it was so sad to see us choke in the semi.
Here’s hoping 2023 is a good year for attendances across the league.

| It is impressive and shows the value of signing players who put bums on seats like French/Field
Also to be fair I do think the Fan Park is a good efffort. I know the players walking through the fans has been described by some as a bit "cringy" but its a different way of thinking and an absolutely brilliant experience for the kids.
My only criticism of it last year was if I remember correctly one of the games that the players did it was against Catalans and the game was a dead rubber with a low crowd so I felt it lost some value. However to be fair when that game was selected, it wouldn't be known what situation the team was in, it could just have easily have been a "must win"
Having the players doing that with the special effects before a Saints or Warrington game would really lift the atmosphere.

| The fanzone last night was the busiest I've seen it since it's inception. Anything they decide to do later in the season (Good Friday especially) will have to be conducted outdoors to allow a further increase in supporters.
Additional beer stalls will be priority on these days along with food and merchandise stands (the club shop had an extremely long queue all the way into the car park last night).
That being said, it's great to see lots of £££ being spent in the arena which is revenue directly into the club.

Great to hear. Yea hopefully they can make more of the outside part. Get a beer tent out there an act would be sorted. The beers a lot better from the fan zone and it’s a bonus that it all goes to the club

| I watched the first half of the Matty Johns show this morning and they played a 4-5 min promotional FOX video for the new season narrated by Matt Nable. Absolutely worlds apart from anything that we have produced, simply stunning. Granted his voice plays a big part but I'm sure we could get in something similar. The guy who narrates the SAS Who Dares Wins series has a very distinctive voice and would sound good over some good footage

| Saints just announced a complete home sell out for tonights game. Yes we are Champions and on the back of a WCC but that's still a great effort with all things considered (TV, cost of living etc)
Leeds have only sold 300 tickets so the away end is now open to Saints fans. Don't like that idea personally as it could potentially cause problems but that number of away fans is a poor effort.

It’s a sad day for Rugby League if we can’t mix. We’ll be stood in with Cas fans tonight, it’s the same at Wakey, Leeds etc and there are rarely any issues.
Crowds across the league seem to have really took an upturn. I’m not sure why, because it doesn’t feel like there’s been much more promotion that usual, other than to stick a few young or fading bands/singers on.
Good to see

| This is the first season since 2020 that we have had a season ticket (we had one for at least 10 years before the pandemic). We knew that we would miss some games this season but we thought that we could fall back on the system where you can swap tickets for game you miss for ones later in the season to make it worth our while. Together with letting pour kids use them for some games it was a decent saving. We have done ticket swaps in the past, but its not available any more. Minor gripe I know, but it just makes it not cost effective for us to have the season tickets from now on. Just flagging it up if anybody else was thinking of swapping tickets.

| If you couldn't make a game, you could swap your tickets to a different game later in the season. We used to do it regularly. Meant that we could bring friends/family to the game we could make. You can't do it now. No big deal, but it was a factor in us deciding top get season tix from a price per game point of view

So my understanding is that if you cant make it to a game (holiday, illness, cant be d etc) you could give the ticket to anyone later on to get in free but you could also use your ticket aswell, that doesnt make commercial sense as it isnt the clubs fault that you are missing a game but the club gets stung for £28 upwards.

Commercial risk that probably didn't work so is no longer available.
We now have memberships where people can pick and choose.

Your understanding is wrong. You couldn't let someone else use your ticket. It was cancelled for the game you couldn't make and you got extra tickets for a different game. It's no big deal. I just thought you could still do it. The person I spoke to at the ticket office said they stopped it last year. It must have been a real sphere ache to manage so it's understandable that they've stopped it. It just tips the value of getting a season ticket over the edge for us and it will be a membership net season
