| It was a tired performance and one that I was expecting to be honest so I wasn't surprised when it did happen. I understand Cas not agreeing to switch the game but we knew we were playing Warrington on a Monday when the fixtures were compiled (or so I recall as I booked the day off) - so why didn't we make sure we had this fixture set for a sunday I don't know. I understand you can't switch it but it shouldn't have needed to be switched, it should have been on the sunday to start with.
Aside from the players being switched off I'm wondering if the coacing team were already planning what they were doing this weekend as it could be seen to all that McIlorum was struggling but it took until the last 10 minutes to bring Powell on? Was Powell injured?
That said they haven't become bad players and coaches overnight, it was just one of those days. Fair play to Cas, Chase ran the show and we made Tansey look like a decent player! I used to hate it when Wigan fans applaued other teams scoring so maybe I'm showing signs of growing old and less petulant but I couldn't help but applaud Cas's second try. That was superb rugby.
Thought Powell played alright considering it was his first game in this code. Other than that I can't take any positives out of it. Just need to chalk it off and move on.

| Just to clarify, We also did the picture at Millenium Magic after beating Wakefield, It may be a regular thing now if we win away from home, Give the fans who have made the trip a photo with them and the team in. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
Dvd's are provided the next day of all other games (Especially the wins)
You played as well as the conditions and the opposition allowed you to. We did the same, Just our 1 Half Back controlled the game a lot better than your 2. As simple as that.

| I don't really understand where all the stick for this team photo is coming from, the players walk over to clap the travelling fans, as most teams do, and a photographer says why not get a picture in front of them? even if intentional it shows to me cas are trying to unite the team and fans, which is a good thing.
Quote ="Bluenosewarrior"Cas fans saying that last night was the greatest night of their lives.
Castleford players having a team photo in front of their fans like they've just won the league.
Castleford already selling the DVD of the game online and in their store.

Nah mate if i had to pick a highlight against Wigan it would be the playoffs in '99, i don't think any fan has said last night was the highlight of their life, steady on
Billy whizz's lad had a couple of howlers last night but i think he will come alright, see you next season.

That's Wigan all over Thanks oh great Wigan for letting a lowly club like Castleford beat you - be us ever so humble. Had it not for being for a couple of dodgy decisions at home we would have done double!!!

| In fairness, we sell all DVDs of our games. It's simply good business to sell them as quickly as possible after a win and 'strike while the iron is hot' as supporters are still riding on the crest of a wave, rather than by the middle of the week when attention has turned to our next game.
As for the photograph, as far as I could see it was orchastrated by a photographer within the stadium anyway, rather than been the idea of the players.

On a Wigan fans' forum? You trawl a Wigan forum for comments about a defeat. The thread is written from a Wigan perspective as that's the way we Wiganers have looked at the game. Your comment shows why we struggle with Yorkshiremen - genetically opinionated in the face of reality.

I bet he looks for our results before his own sides results. He is more of a Wigan hater than a fan of his own club. Its great that our great club can attract so many haters. Gives them an active forum to join in everyday of the week.

| Quote ="just_browny"The first thread to appear after last night's match was a whinge about how Hemmings was enjoying reading out the Wigan score.

The first thread on the Wolfs board was a whine about how Wane has had the Gaul to praise Castleford as being the best side to play at the DW this year.
Desperately looking for some kind of confirmation that indeed the Wolfs in fact were the best team to have played here, despite not beating us.
The real comedy value of the post is that they also thought that surely Leeds and Hudds performances must have been better than Cas whilst ridiculing themselves that as they haven't even played here!
I'll have a small wager that there's 5 times as many threads on the Wolfs board about Wigan than vice versa?
The next comedic posts were about the arrogance of wigan for not wanting to change the Cas game to a Sunday because its only Cas "the arrogant Wigan gits".
Then there's the back track on that followed up with Wanes being arrogant because he rested players against Widnes last year the arrogant gits, yet no mention that they've lauded "Sir Tony" for resting players all the way through 2012 and no mention of when they lost doing the same.
What has always amused me is that there are posters all over RL fans but in particular on the Wolfs board who on their own site revel in their hatred and jealousy of Wigan positively promoting their own jealousy as a badge of honour.
Yet they then come on here wanting to engage in reasonable discussion with us.
In my opinion anyone who shows such a hatred towards someone/The wigan club loses all right to engage in such discussion as their obvious hatred/jealousy biases every word that comes out of their bodies.
It would be interesting if we all engaged this and make a list somewhere of posters who "hate" wigan one minute and then want reasoned debate the next to highlight their biased ness ?
Lets have a cheat sheet that we can refer to at such times so we can remember them?
I wonder if you'll be on there Just-browny"?

| Not sure what Wire have to do with this? I'd have thought he would be reflecting on their first choice side failing to put Wigan's A team to bed until the last 10 minutes, on Monday, at home.

| I never understand why people always go on about X team is obsessed why Y team.
It's the nature of rivalry, pick any team you like including Wigan and there's always a team they talk about the most after their own team.
Wire's is Wigan
Wigan's is Saints
Saints is Wigan
Bradford is Leeds
Leeds is Wigan
Widnes is Wire
Salford is Wire
KR is FC
FC is KR
Cas is Wakefield
Wakefield is Cas
you can do that with any team in any league in any sport, so why it comes as a shock to some that fans talk about other teams baffles me?

Not really; in both cases the comments focus more on the performance than the results. Most fans are not too upset when the team play well and lose, as happened v Wire for example, but we do get upset when we play badly, whatever the result.

I understand your sarcasm but (unless you have only been watching Wigan for a few years), this isn't even Cas' best victory against Wigan. In fact I can think of 2 better ones - the Regal Cup Final a good few years ago. Nobody expected Cas to win, I think you had won every trophy going for a number of years but it ended up 33-2 in our favour (I think). The play-off victory in 1999 was also a bigger victory as it was the first game at the JJB and we were playing from 5th, again with nobody giving us a chance!
However, it is difficult to argue your last point. The RFL don't seem to like the fact that our small-town club (who refuse to go bust by spending money we can't afford) still compete in the utopia that is Super League. If only we were more like Bradford and Wakefield, willing to leave businesses crippled by not paying them before declaring 'bankrupcy' and chasing the dream by spending more than they can afford, then perhaps our SL future would be safe?

Cas are a great club with a great history. Good to see them on the up. At one time they would beat us time after time in the Challenge cup and it took the 8 in a row run to end that cycle.

As for the picture:
a) We've had two poor seasons filled with misery and negativity
b) We've just beaten the side top of the league
c) We've kept a side to four points when our defence has been our Achilles heel
d) It's a big win for the loyal fans who have stood by the club
e) We haven't won properly away from home since last Easter.
It was a victory worth celebrating for a number of reasons. It has nothing to do with Wigan as a club - get over yourselves.
And it's about time you started showing a little bit of a humble side and accepting that Castleford played well and deserved to win. Oh, and giving us some credit at the same time for winning rather than some of the excuses. You played poor but it was Cas that made you play poor. We still had to turn up and defend.'"
It's you who needs to get over yourself. If you seriously think it was Cas who 'made' Paddy knock on over the line, Matty Smith unable to hold on to the ball during a straightforward pass, Blake Green kick out on the full when under absolutely no pressure, play the ball to no one or any of the numerous other unforced errors Wigan made on Friday then you need to get a grip. Or if you think Cas 'made' us have so many injuries we were playing without a single one of our first choice props and were reduced to playing someone without a single game of rugby league [uat any level [/uunder his belt! Fair play to Cas. They were the better team on the night and deserved their win but to suggest they beat a Wigan side at anything like their best is frankly a joke. Cas however did 'make' us play 4 days after the toughest match in superleague this year so by all means take credit for that.

I personally think that Wigan's woeful performance spoke volumes about your head coach TBH
Wane thought that all you had to do was turn up and take the 2 points,I think your club will be in a serious spot of trouble winning the big games when Sam Tomkins leaves judging by previous results when he has also been missing
