What people must realise is that with the use of the GPS system at Wigan now data is readily available to the Wigan coaching staff regarding distance run, speed of collision and tackle impact. It's no longer just a matter of how many tackles or how many runs etc there is a lot more science to it nowadays.

Thats fair enough and it must be handy but sometimes I think you can make calls with your own eyes. IMO Farrell has comfortably outperformed Tuson in games this year and no amount of computer data could convince me otherwise.

i pretty much agree with what you said, so i went to the opta stats just for a reference :

based on 10 games for CT and 13 for LF, the key points are

Games - 10 v 13

so faz is miles ahead on all stats bar offloads, and well ahead in mtrs/carry, tackle success and errors

there must be some other reason why he is being rested, because i cant see it in eiuther the stats or when watching games

Why do we see this as anything sinister?... We are blessed with SR's, and they are being rotated. Keeps players fresh and on their toes... For me, its to be applauded.

I can see something in that. When Faz tackles he does it all with great technique and the minimum fuss. He isn't the sort of person to rush attackers and throw the shoulder at them but he hardly ever misses and the attacker rarely makes any ground at all.

He's all arms and uses hardly any body in the tackle but he gets the job done.

perhaps its a case of H being back to be the machine, so using the bench for a different style player ?
fwiw i would play hock instead of tuson.

I think what Madge is doing with Faz is extremely clever. He is keeping Faz on his toes, dying to get on the scene. I bet any money as soon as the Wire semi comes along (same time as the business end of the season) Faz will be straight back in like a caged dog with a point to prove.

He was doing a similar thing with Mossop last year untill he got injured. Hopefully we will get to reap the benefits of it this year.

Ive actually commented on that to my mate that he seems to make the tackle but hes the only one that doesnt offer "big hits" but at the end of the day he is way ahead of Tuson in practically every facet of his game and it isnt like Tuson offers "big hits" is it?

Same 17 as last week allows possibility of bringing farrell back in to rest hoffman or o'loughlin for the quins game and get everyone fresh for the cup game

I honestly don't know why some people don't think Chris Tuson isn't worthy of a place in the team. He has been asked by the coaching staff to do a job and, IMHO, he has done what has been asked. Okay he isn't the massive superstar that some on here think Liam Farrell is, but for me he is just a hard working and honest player who is Wigan RL through and through

He's an honest worker who runs his blood to water and is very game but he's not big enough or strong enough and gets physically dominated too easily. He's also missed a few bad tackles this year(he cost us 2 trys with shocking misses at Crusaders).

He's a good lad to have around the squad but Farrell is head and shoulders better imo.

Tuson is the kind of player every club needs in their squad. Honest, hard working and reliable. He adds valuable depth to the squad and never lets anyone down.

Good squad player to have in there as back up to better options of which Farrell is one along with the givens of Hoffman, Hansen, Joel, Lockers and Hock(when match fit).

Hock to play against Leeds. Rest him against the big teams like Cas.

I'd like to think Maguire will mix it up abit and keep everyone fresh in these next 3 games but I can't see it. It doesn't seem his style and if everyone if fit and performs well I think we'll see the same 17 for Leeds, Cas and Quins.
