Not sure why he's put that up. Similar tackles, Fielden has missed less, but just doesn't take the ball in as much (but lets be honest, who does).

Yes we did pay a lot for Fielden but that does not mean he is on more than Graham.
Yes he is one of our top earners but Graham will be one of Saints top earners to.

I do however think we are moving away from what I.L. said he wanted. I know so far its 3 out 3 in but feel that should be enough imports for this year i want to see the day we field 13 British players and just 4 overseas players in our team every week. That should be part of the Wigan way.

At the same time though, I can see what you mean, but I also don't think that there is a prop ready to step up on a consistent basis (although Davies isn't far away), a HB partner for sam (or FB) anytime soon.

However I still maintain that we have only gone for Hoffman because he's available, and he's a talent we couldn't miss out on.

I know this is a bit O/T here but i have this funny gut feeling that next year with 3 of MM old clubs players coming in it might have an unsettling effect on the team as a whole. I do hope i am wrong but we will have to see i would not feel the same if it was 3 players from different clubs but 3 from the same could end up with a little favoritism towards them which has not been shown this year.

AG you may be right but I doubt it.

We have brought in three players who Madge knows well. The systems we are using are those used by Melbourne, so I'm expecting the players to settle into the playing patters relatively quickly.

We haven't been afraid to drop players who have under performed this season, I expect the same thing to apply next.

Stuart Fielden - ~ 7.09 metres/carry

Fielden and Coley both need to be signed up. They have both played a big part in our success so far this season.

Fielden is superb for the way we play because he is a tackling machine and with us commiting so many men to every tackle he has done the work that not many other players could shoulder imo. This is a side of the game which isnt noticed by many people because he gets called far too often. He has had a couple of stinkers with the ball in hand imo but on one of them he was targetted and didnt really have any back up against a big pack. Coley got sent off for an idiotic tackle and probably cost us any chance against Wire so he isnt exactly faultless.

Surely those stats show how good Fielden could be in a good pack, take the pressure of his shoulders and surely those stats will improve.

Maybe 5 years ago but not now, I know you like Nick Scruton and I do too, I wouldn't mind us signing him.

Graham also often acts as a ball player in the line, with short passes rather than drives, which I assume would affect this stat?

Don't get me wrong, in no way am I saying Fielden is better than Graham, i'd have Graham in the team ahead of Fielden every day of the week, but I was just making a point that the stats show Fielden is still a good prop.

I feel Graham passes the ball a bit too often now, when he started to do it it often caught defences off guard but now he seems to do it on a regular basis that its often planned for.
