| Quote ="NickyKiss"We weren't as good though quite obviously. They play at full throttle for the 80 mins and have a desire to destroy teams whereas we don't but as I say that will make little difference when the big games come round.
If we win our game in hand we go outright top and that added to the big shiny thing with the ribbons on sat in our trophy cabinet suggests to me we're still the team to beat.'"
tbf if we do win our game in hand then yes we will go top but this year could come down to goal difference for top spot this season its that tight.
Maybe the players/ coaches were thinking about not risking injuries when they switched off after about 27 minutes at 42-0 up, or maybe they were thinking about the good of the game and the damage an absolute tonking would have done to quins (and yes maybe this would have been damaging), but we really should have been seing this as an opportunity to reign in wires GD and it is an opportunity missed.
At 42-0 up, had we kept that intensity we could have been looking at a super league record 100+ score tonight, which would not only have put us in the record books, but clawed 50pts back on wire. Instead, cue goes on the rack, yet at the same time wire dont stop even though they were only 16/22 up at the same time- What happens? Wire end up extending their goal difference over us by another 14 points, when, even with wire putting 60 on cas, we could have still peged their GD back by 40 or 50 points- Plus the fact, what a message we could have sent out to SL tonight, rather than just settling for a score that was expected!

well thats how you tell it when you rubbish the Challenge cup anyway....

to be fair half of the league would have nilled cas tonight - They were woefull - Worst Cas performance since they were re-promoted IMO- they couldnt even complete a set of 6. Cant believe how inconsistant they have been this season!

Well you'd finish top but then history shows that it pretty much a 50/50 call if the top side goes on to win at Old Trafford so like I say it won't lose too much sleep over it.

Warrington have put 50+ on 6 teams this year, there's very little chance of us reigning in that GD.
We did the right thing tonight - once the result was beyond doubt we throttled back and avoided injury/burnout by rotating a lot of players in and out.
Carmont went off for example - I don't think he was injured, but the coaching staff were merely protecting him.
Yes I heard fans having a moan on the way out tonight "we've only scored 1 try in the second half, I'm leaving....", but c'mon we were streets ahead of Quins!
As for anyone questioning our 'killer instinct', please remind me again who the current champions are?

| Wire aren't as great as some make out.
Good- Yes
BUT they still have major playoff issues to overcome.
How many times have they been champs?

It'll go down in the record books as the biggest ever Challenge Cup final winning margin - that must count for something.

From an unbiased point of view warrington scored more consistently in their game showing more composure through the game instead of switching off and wanting to get off the pitch
Also castleford had only lost 4 games all year, your comments make no sense

| I don't understand why people place such importance on being top of the league. Any of the big four could go to another and win in the playoffs. Wigan are still the measuring stick, you're the champ until somebody knocks you out.

| The table is starting to take shape now. As usual some smaller clubs have done well for a while but its the usual suspects again dominating things.
Wire look impressive, though with Superman back and apparently not suffering too much from his career threatening injury and with Hock and Fielden to come into the side we should fear no-one, and that includes the Wolfs.
Wire doing well could actually be a positive, the biggest danger for a champion side is complacency and losing your edge after winning the previous year. It is often said that titles are harder to retain than to win, but all the ridiculous hype around Wire will actually be a fantastic motivational tool for Wigan.
At the end of the day it's simple - we are the champions and if we win our game in hand we will be top of the league. We need to keep doing what we do best, winning and let the rest take care of itself. Madge will be very determined to go out with another SL title, I can't see anything less than a very strong end to the season for our boys. Bring on the Wolfs!

| If it was Wigan leading the table with the same kind of GD, people on here would be claiming the title already. All we can do is hope our squad does keep fighting to the end. It's been said having Wire scoring and defending like this should keep our guys on their toes, because if we switch off for an hour in any other game, there's always a chance we could get bitten.

Have you ever seen the Wire win the league?

| Warrington are looking very good this year. Whether they will maintain this form for the full season is another matter but it will be interesting to find out. If they do maintain this form, I could see them doing the double.

Have you ever seen Sheffield Eagles win at Wembley ?, on current form, Wire are a very serious threat to our title, they have a strong squad and an excellent coach, as in previous seasons a lot can depend on your C Cup run. Also injuries to key players will be a big influence as too who picks up silverware at the end of the year.

| Warrington are playing well and can run up big scores. The major difference to recent years is that their defence is on form as well. They have lost four games, two of those they were hammered by the Giants. Play the right game and you can frustrate them and take advantage.
