Quote ="WarriorSteve"Sorry I have just ripped this off Wigan fans by CPWigan... OMG what a joke organisation the RFL are...
Bearing in mind Lima has never played in SL before and Radford was sent off last year!
Here is the page of Radfords charge from the RFL:
www.therfl.co.uk/disciplinary/item?2400
Here is Lima's for the Saints game:
www.therfl.co.uk/disciplinary/item?2320
Notice a part of that is almost word for word:
Radford's:
"The Panel believed that your opponent’s limb was moved in an abnormal direction and outside the usual ranges of movement. Of particular concern to the Panel was your action in grabbing your opponent’s arm and shoulder, then proceeding to put your opponent’s arm and shoulder in a vulnerable position behind his back, with your body weight maintaining the arm in a vulnerable position with the arm and shoulder joint rotated in an abnormal direction that involved an unacceptable risk of injury to that player. As a defender you have a special duty to avoid such contact. The Panel believed your actions were unnecessary and could have resulted in an injury to your opponent"
Lima's:
"The Panel believed that your opponent’s limb was moved in an abnormal direction and outside the usual ranges of movement. Result:
Lima - 2 matches.
Radford - 0 matches.
Oh and to add Lima pleaded guilty and apologised Radford pleaded not guilty and has so far not apologised for his actions.
LOL what a joke.... and other fans don't think the RFL have an agenda!!!'"
Radford's treatment certainly seems very lenient.
But the whole system is a bit of joke. If you read the RFL's own guidelines its not exactly a well thought out or well drafted document (I await a post from Wigan/Leeds Andy defending the RFL.... ), take this gem for instance:
"Provocation
An immediate reactionary retaliation to foul play by an opponent may be a mitigating plea as it may be seen as self defence."
Eh? An action is either in self-defence (in which case provided reasonable force is used the action should be ok) or it is the result of provocation (in which case it isn't ok but the provocation mitigates the offence and makes it less serious). This muddled thinking is just typical of the RFL.
Whether there's any sinister agenda or simple incompetence or both is always very difficult to work out (both in the case of the SC, here though I would favour cock up rather than conspiracy as the explanation for Radford's lenient treatment).

| I have to say, having read Joel's charge and defence and having seen the different penalties handed out to Lima and Radford for essentially the same offence, I can only conclude that the RFL are a set of d!cks. The unfortunate thing, however, is I'm not even surprised and that says more than I ever could. I'm getting wholly sick of the in-breds that run our game. Union looks the professional sport these days while ours is amateurish and riddled with self interest. Shame really.

| Just watched the SL show again, at least 4 other players ran in and threw a punch before Sam even got there

Different incident. Sam was charged for the previous scuffle which wasn't shown on the highlights.

I'm never one for this 'they're out to get us poop' but deary deary me RFL!!!!!
Reading in clear black and white the only difference is a few extra words on Radford's case - [iwith your body weight maintaining the arm in a vulnerable position[/i yet he is the one with the lighter ban??
Granted Lima pleaded guilty but if anything that should've gone in his favour ????????? grrrrrrrr it's ridiculous!!!!!!!!!
As for Joel - I still think 2 match man was fair

That's why when I originally compiled that post i put on that Lima pleaded guilty as usually that leads to a more lenient sentence yet when raffles is caught and claims he didn't do it he gets off?!

Oh I forgot to mention that Sam was given 1 match despite "clean record" (which actually IS clean) yet they decided that Radford also had a clean record (even though it was only 6 months ago at the back end of last season that he was banned for PUNCHING!)
And btw Wire fans and whatever red adair is:
We are NOT moaning about Joels ban we are actually bothered by the way in which the RFLs constency has been proven in dramatic fashion and noone can possibly claim we are being unreasonable in saying that now. It may not be inconsistent with Wigan being the only losing party but it is certainly inconsistent.

So we had these 'wrestling; tactics in:-

1999 when you didn't beat us?
2000 when you didn't beat us?
2001 when you didn't beat us?
2002 when you beat us only once? (mustn't have been wrestling then)
2003 when you beat us only once? (or then)
2004 resulted in 2 draws so we mustn't have wrestled then, or at least you wrestled as much as us?
2006 2-1 to us. Did we forget to wrestle in that last game?
2007 when you didn't beat us?
2008 when you beat us only once? (mustn't have been wrestling then)
2009 when you beat us only once? (mustn't have been wrestling then)
2010 when you didn't beat us?
I'd say you've tended to struggle against us since you emerged from Gateshead's shadow. Maybe we were wrestling in 1998.
A quick look at 1993-94 shows that we were probably wrestling then too judging by your form against us before your subsequent relegation and then rescue by Gateshead.
