| Given his positioning, Joel could quite easily claim he couldn't see whether Myler had grounded the ball because of the padding round the post and therefore was within his rights to tackle Myler to stop him grounding the ball.

ok, i'm game, lets pretend that that is in someway true.
Why didn't joel use his rights(which he was well within) and attempt to tackle myler and stop him grounding the ball, instead of elbow dropping on his head?

Kind of thing Wigan fans were mocking Nathan Brown for after his comments on O'Loughlin taking out Robinson and getting away with it (doesn't fit in the anti Wigan stuff does it)
Oh and theres a big difference between chest and head'"
Look, I think it was totally wrong and can't be justified. However, your picture and the outrage about an elbow to the head don't actually tell the story factually, he did not make initial contact with myler's head watch it again frame by frame if you have to. Please don't try and turn it into something that it wasn't.

| Quote ="The Punisher"Morley hasn't been suspended since Smith came to Warrington and we haven't had a player suspended this season, not sure what your trying to get at?. The late tackles on Leulaui by Louis Anderson and Carvell on Tomkins on Friday were delt with on the pitch, the ones by Morley wasn't, simpley because there was nothing in it. Didn't recall any high tackles which wern't punished, the only one i can remember was by Atkins on Goulding, straight from the restart after the Riddell try, which was given as a penalty.'"
The point we are getting it is we are surprised noone from Warrington has been suspended this season. It was in February, but you may recall 2 bad challenges that Morley and Carvell made in the game before they played Wigan - I saw them on Boots "n" All or the Super league Show. They were both, in my opinion, worse than Andy Coley's against Catalans yet both were let off. Now, I'm not an expert and don't sit on Disciplinary Committees - I do, however, have a pretty good idea about the game and think I can recognise deliberate foul play.
I think there was "something" in several of Morley's challenges that went unpunished - you obviously don't. Joel's challenge was late too - and he is rightly up before the Disciplinary to try and explain his actions.

| The more i think about this the more i come to the conclusion that unless it's real serious ie results in an injury, if the ref misses it then nothing happens and the player gets lucky. If Myler although he was temporarily hurt wasn't hurt in a way in which he has to come off the field then lets just leave it alone. Let the RFL just deal with the serious stuff, is this ? not really. I think the storm is coming from the fact that if Joel is given a game ban it weakens you and helps us.
Mans game, bring back the biff etc etc, drop it i say

If you really think Morley's high tackle on Brent Shirwin was worse than Coleys on Fakir you really are looking through your Cherry and White specs! Coley's head High tackle was only only 2nd to Jake Websters sending off against Bradford, for worst high shot this season.

My point is, that it's not the 'elbow drop' being described by some. A 95kg man dropping an elbow in your face would usually have a fairly substantial result. It was very late, and imo dangerous and he's quite rightly been called up to the RFL to explain his actions.

Thank you, Wire 85! Hope the Disciplinay Committee share your unbiased view of the incident! Trouble is, they may be "less unbiased" ( that probably equates to "more biased"!)

| He'll get a fine and a warning. Besides, if the rfl love warrington players so much how come westwood was given 5 games for a high shot last season. Can anybody remember a player from any SL club getting a ban of that length in recent years?

I wouldn't say it was an elbow drop.
I agree with you on it shame others only see it as Wigan against the World case 24453535
I reckon he will get a fine and a warning for the future

It's a shame to see people react like that I agree, much as it's a shame to see some Wire fans react like everything on one of their players is attempted murder. Hopefully there'll be a sensible outcome, however it is the RFL so he may get 10 years in Alcatraz or get told good lad feel free to do it again

The picture from one of your fellow Dire fans quite clearly shows that Tomkins does not elbow drop on his head.

Agreed! As someone else has said, I much prefer the way Origin refs let some "biff" into the game. Seems like over here they want to turn it into a non-contact sport.

They don't in the weekly NRL rounds though, they're much stricter than over here and JT would be looking at a ban.

| Great news.
I'll actually take back what I said a couple of pages back about him not going into Myler's head with his arm - looking at the replays on the Super League website highlights now, there's a couple of different angles that I'd not seen it from, and going off those images it does look quite a nasty hit. As already gone over, though, Myler didn't kick up a fuss and it pretty much went unnoticed on the pitch. Done and dusted now - out of character for Joel, and hopefully he'll not get himself up in front of the beak again this season.
