Depends on the time period you're looking at. For the ten years up to 2010 Wigan had lots to prove!

It wasn't directed at you at all and I don't see why you would think it was. I actually agree with your sentiments in that I too would rather the more tiresome elements of other supporters would stay away instead of posting rubbish. We'll go through the same procedure next week with Loiners replacing Wolves then get a week's peace before the Catalan game. Boring.
Now, where's that handbag......

If you are comparing Wigan to Warrington you really need to go and check your history.

But the point is that we didn't feel like we had anything to prove. We had a lean spell and battled against relegation for one season but the history of the club means that we didn't feel inferior. If (and it's a big IF) Saints go through a lean spell for the next few years and we do well they'll be gutted, as we were when the boot was on the other foot but they won't be as desperate to be taken seriously as Wire fans are at the moment because they will have their memories of being one of the best teams in the world in the mid-noughties and their belief in their club and its brand of rugby to sustain them in any dark period.
Unfortunately your dark period has gone on for so long that even though dawn has arrived and the future is bright Wire fans are still nervous and feeling inadequate. Some Wire fans want Wigan or Saints fans to say that you are the main rivals now and the true derby is Wigan v Wire or Saints v Wire. Why? There's a history to that fixture that makes it unique in RL. Why not concentrate on what Wire have to offer. It's a big town without a football rival in a relatively prosperous part of the NW. Warrington could be a massive club- if you grow the supporter base (not being unkind here but from talking to people in Wire that aren't interested in RL particularly I think some of them are put off going by the antics of some of your fanbase), the amateur game in the area and continue to invest in the stadium then the furture could be very bright. So my message to Wire fans would be to just "chillax"....

| The desperation of some wire fans is astounding. They are aching, hoping and wishing to become a 'big club'. You dont become a 'big club' over a couple of seasons.
Its built on years of success, fan base, fame and more importantly, respect. The same way you dont lose the title of a 'big club' easily. (sorry, Widnes).

| Crowd looks good for the biggest game of the season so far... despite the bickering.
East stand 1 (1670/4112) 2442
East stand 2 (792/4110) 3318
South stand (427/5402) 4975
West stand 1 (723/2512) 1789
West stand 2 (995/2510) 1515
Total tickets sold ............ 12,127......12,477........ 12,938.....13,167.....14,039
Plus estimated wire fans... 16,127.....16,477........16,938......17,167....18,039
Tickets remaining....... 5,708......5,489......4,607
Total seats........ 18,646
Around 800 sold today, do that for the next 4 days as well and the crowd should easily reach over 20k. Hopefully a big walk up should make the crowd even bigger. Add to that the 500 ish prawn sandwich seats which are not shown on the ticket site.
Only 4,607 tickets are left! If wire bring 4k we are already looking at 18k +

This is coming from Wigan fans who as soon they win with a few players out expect the whole league to bow down in respect or something, "shockwaves through the league" someone said on here the other day, its like you want the clocked turn backed to the time when you ruled the league and every should be in awe of you but you feel its not happening.
Also all this "we are back" crap when someone on the internet or media says someone against Wigan like its world its against you and some of you lot feel the need to try and boost your ego off it in a weird way.

You've missed the point, which tells its own story. It isn't about whether I or Wigan fans generally or Saints fans or Leeds fans are arrogant (we may be) it's about Wire fans and the fact that you feel inferior. Saints fans don't feel inferior to Wigan fans on the whole (though they should! ) or worry about whether their club is a top club (they worry about the ground, their team but not about the club in an abstract sense, they just get on with being Saints fans.)
Perhaps taking that for granted is arrogant, but to be honest I'd rather be arrogant and at ease with myself as a Wigan fan (and I suspect Saints and Leeds fans would say the same) than have a massive chip on my shoulder like many Wire fans. Perhaps you will chill out a bit after another couple of years of doing well, especially if you don't underachieve in the play-offs, but my sense is that the long wilderness years have taken their toll on the Wire pysche.

How is saying that the Hudds result would send "shockwaves through the world of RL" (that was me by the way!! ) feeling nervous and inadequate? I don't think it shows a need for an ego boost; it's just the product of a massive ego!
And as for the Wigan are back comments, we are second in the league with a game in hand despite massive injury problems and are the current SL champions having run a superb St George side close in the WCC. You can't blame us for being happy!
By the way, if you're at the DW for the Wigan v Wire game, look out for the "arrogance" flag (nothing to do with me, though I wish it was, it is superb). I don't think you're going to like it much though.....

I doubt they'll bring 5k, but to be fair they have a very good travelling support compared with the disgraceful followings of many other clubs.

| I don't usually get in to the crowd/weather/pointless parochial arguments/discussions threads but i think Wire will actually bring 5k this time, tickets by all accounts are going quicker, a mauling of Quins will bring the fairweathers out which is in itself worth about 500-600.
The difference from last year too is the time of year, people aren't on holiday as much in March as they are in the middle of the summer, should be bumper, i expect a slightly bigger attendance than last year.

| No inferiority complex here, Wire have been mostly crap at worst / inconsistent at best, for as long as I can remember (apart from a brief spell when we had Jiffy, and the past 2 years), and I'm currently enjoying watching them play mostly consistent, entertaining Rugby.
In fact I'm quite happy to admit and say that we've simply been a mid-table occasional nuisance to the 'big teams' for the majority of the time.
Looking forward to Friday, hopefully the best team wins on the night, and remember everyone, it's only for 2 league points at the end of the day.
And on behalf of the level headed, sensible Warrington fans - I'd like to apologise for the "quality" of trolls on here for the coming week, it's actually quite embarrassing

Decent number to aim for. Quite a few were claiming we filled it last year but I don't think we did, I managed to walk up and buy a ticket on the day for example (even if I did get told I had to pay cash only, not card, which meant a rather inconvenient walk to boots and back in the rain )

Pretty sure that with it being unreserved (Can someone confirm it is?) that the capacity will be reduced by something like 10% (Could even be 15%?) meaning that you would be given around 4850 tickets for that Stand.
I'm sure Leyther Matt will confirm.

10% of that capacity will remain unsold (same goes for the South Stand), due to unreserved seating.

For this one that figure won't be far off.
Your right though, as Leyther Matt always says, just because it isn't for sale doesn't mean it's been sold!
What he means is that the club could hold "X" amount of tickets back for a reason (In the past we've had them put away for the Troops, sponsors etc) and if they then don't get taken up they could be put out for General Sale. The 10% for Unreserved Seating is also taken away from that figure as well.
