Not quite sure he has shown enough for a long term deal. Couple of years yes.

| Good news but in 2011 Wigan have signed 1 or 2 props so competition will be rife

| Regards Farrell I personally think both he and Tuson have shown more that Mossop. Mossop for me has all the potential in the world but lacks the consistency. I was stunned to see him pick up a 5 year deal, and I certainly think Farrel has shown the form to justify a similar contract.
Made up about the contract renewals by the way. Our front row next year should be outstanding.

| Absolutely made up with the news of these extensions, both deserve what they have been given, particually happy for Fielden, who has been immense this year.

| These two have been the foundation of our success this year.
I'm hopeful that both will get even better next year with the added help.
Outstanding news.

Why would someone who has just had 2 years aay from competitive rugby benefit from a long off season? Surely the more rugby he can play the better if the issue is match fitness.

| Maybe it will be Hock that's loaned out for the remainder of next season so he's raring to go when he returns to us? Seems sensible that he regains match fitness somewhere else so he's sharp when he turns out for us.

If he has been keeping fit which we believe he has, then a run of 3-4 games in the reserves should have him knocking on the door for a shot in the first team, obviously he will only get a run if Madge and Wane decide that he is better than the other players infront of him.
I personally can't wait to see Gareth Hock given the MM and Wane treatment.
IMO Hocks brainfarts came from us trying to play the offload game under noble and he would try and get the ball away in the tackle at nearly every opportunity often at a high cost to the team. IMO under MM I think we will see Gareth playing a more strong/wide running second row type game taking advantage of the new found space under the tactics we now employ. Thats what I'm hoping for anyway..

Thus far this season he hasn't disappointed, but I can't help feeling that something has got to give somewhere.
No doubt the moment someone leaves, the usual suspects will dust off their "I'm not impressed" badges, but the reality is surely that, with three major new signings due to arrive next year, and possibly Hock, we won't be able to accommodate everyone (even with the known departures). The pack in particular suddenly looks immensely strong in terms of numbers.
That said, it would be a blow if Farrell went, because for me he's been the real find of 2010.

Ryan Hoffman is on a 1+1 deal
The only reason for that is that he has only ever played for 1 team, in 1 city in Australia.
It's a very sensible move both by the club and (more importantly) by the player.
He genuinely doesn't know whether he will enjoy life away from Melbourne and doesn't want to end up asking for an early release.
We just have to make him feel VERY welcome, as this lad is an absolute monster on the park.

| Reading in Today's Express that Fielden had off an offer to join the North Queensland Cowboy's but turned it down because he and his wife are expecting their first child soon and the timing wasn't quite right to go over to Aus
We did well to keep him when you read the article and find out how just how much in demand he was. Some pretty good quotes from himself as well in regards to only wanting to play for Wigan in SL and no one else.

Heard a similar thing myself. Having spoken to Stu a couple of times, he's one heck of a decent lad, and seems to be genuinely happy at Wigan. I think the new regime of hard training and conditioning has suited him no end, both mentally and physically.

Great article in the Express about Fielden & Wigan. Bit about Richards breaking records and being the best supported side too. Wigan press office doing a good job I reckon.

That has tickled me and should put a big smile on Stuart Fielden's face.
North Queensland Cowboys wanted to replace Willie Mason with Stuart Fielden.
Brilliant.
