I was going to make a serious contribution to this subject but find an infantile debate going on.

Keeping this brief if you look at the SMH Monaghan wants to come to serve a period in"purgatory in Super League" before returning to the NRL.

If he cannot be accepted in the NRL why does he and the Aussies think they have a right to come here. Many will find my views on our poor standard of rugby etc. previously stated under other threads but their opinion that he is not worthy to appear in the NRL but it is OK for him to go to Super League is not one I would share. It smacks of a bit of arrogance and insinuates that discipline and moral standards are higher in Australia than here. I know standards have dropped but not to that level.

you can deny it all you want, but i guarantee before you won the league this year youd have taken the challenge cup in an instant, and has you won that instead it would have been a great achievement! i pity someone that thinks its not!

I don't know anyone who would rather win the challenge cup than the league, even with our past glory and an trip to Wembley on offer. I'm not saying it's not great to win it, but it's better and harder to win the league. Hopefully we'll win the treble next year anyway

What about us of getting of widdop as it says in the media today that he has only 1 year left on his contact and wants a go at SL and we must have a chance of getting him with his links to our coach, please dont let him go to some over the hill yorkshire club.

I saw nothing in the 4 nations that would make me want him at Wigan.

There was quite of players in the england side that you wouldnt want in a WIGAN shirt but you would when there playing for thier club side.

Ive heard a few say this.. but if we are judging players by the 4 Nations performances, we wouldnt want any of them either



Its the way they get played at international level - we have hit a similar situation to the Lampard/Gerrard/Rooney and England football team were they are stars for the club but dont star for the country.

Sam should have been the star of the 4 nations, but McBanana used him in a totally different role than we do at Wigan.

Isn't Widdop a half? He was played at FB and looked pretty terrible.

Plus he wouldn't count against the quota, so it wouldn't be a bad move if he's got something about him.
