| Quote ="MadDogg"Pleased for Miski - he's a very solid winger and whilst he clearly doesn't have the pace of French/Marshall, he will bring a physical presence over the next few weeks that the others don't have.'"
French is wasted on the wing in my opinion. Miski and Marshall need to play when we have a fully fit squad.
Both will get us on the front foot due to their ability in contact to either make yards or find their front and get a quick play the ball.
French doesn’t do that when he is on the wing, he tends to get dominated and closed down and lacks the physicality in the return carry on the edge, but the extra space he gets at 1 where he can use his footwork and pace against middle chasers is next level.

Even without injuries Miski would deserve a start next week.
We started our sets on the front foot off every kick because of the meters and quick play the balls both generated.'"
Agree, both Miski and Kings yardages carries are miles better than French’s. Marshall does well for a smaller player but can sometimes get dominated.
In what’s likely to be a war next week having them too big lads carrying the ball will help. Just probably don’t trust them to covert half chances like Marshall and French would.

His general play has been excellent.
It's just the shots at goal that are letting him down again tonight.
Weird, because he seems to be either 90-100% or 25-40% (e.g. He was brilliant last week).
If he could be a solid 75-80% every week, he'd be great.'"
Let’s hope he is great again next week.

Havard was superb again, Byrne is getting better with match fitness and Ellis had his best game in a while. Cooper seems way off the pace, this is a guy who used to play big minutes. Has Father Time caught up with him or is he carrying an injury?

| I'd settle with keeping Bevan fit, wherever he plays. But obviously at full-back for now, if not permanently. And considering he was the top try-scorer, by a distance, last season, when he was 'wasted' on the wing, I'll take him wherever I find him.

The problem is that Field and French are both box office but both are also suited to playing full back and consequently we have a conundrum. Ideally, it would be better if one of our marquee players was a half back.

| Have to echo the thoughts regarding King. He was brilliant last night. As soon as he got his first touch of the ball you could see he was brimming with confidence. That's the Toby King everybody wanted in their side 3 years ago. If Peet can coax that out of him consistently we have to be trying to strike a deal with Warrington. Wardle isn't hitting the straps yet but you can see it's there. I've got no problem playing the waiting game with him. And for the love of god let Brad O'Neill play next week.

| Great result and a dominant performance. Some good luck at key times but you had the match-winners to take advantage of it when it came along.
Thought Havard was sensational. It is a shame that Peet appears to have worked out that Cust and Singleton are so poor as I used to ejoy seeing them named in the side. Though Brad O'Neill showed some really good signs too.
Shame for Field - you want all the stars on the pitch for games like Good Friday but can only be good news for Saints that he is out.

Made the mistake of have a look at Red Vee. Everyone talking about the “Great News” of Field damaging his hamstring.

| Good to see Havard getting the plaudits, the hard work is paying off. He does all the simple things really well.
Reminds me of a young Stuart Fielden, upright running style and gets over the top of the defender. Massive potential and seems like he has the right attitude to go with it.

| We didn't half need a performance like that. Great result. Our forwards were excellent, really impressed. Looks like Miski will get a run in the team now, which is 100% deserved. Smith ran the game, hopefully that'll give him some confidence after a bit of a shaky start to the season.
Gave me confidence that we'll be well up there this season. Looking forward to the next few weeks, backs against the wall losing a few players, bring it on.

I keep looking at 2 players in Havard and Brad O’Neill and 2 players they should be looking at spring to mind. I’d be telling Havard to watch any footage of Fielden he can find, to just see where he can get to with some extra intensity in his game and O’Neill should be watching Terry Newton on loop, to see not only how clever he was around the ruck, but also that all the small effort areas really take you to that next level. Newton was a master of supporting around the middle and when you have French and Field in the side, you’re going to get plenty of opportunities to push on breaks. I’m not saying either are at that level or can get to that level but there’s similarities in their shape/athletic attributes and there’s loads of improvement in them.

Ignore it I’m sure a minority of Wigan fans have the same feeling when a Saints player is injured. Big loss for us but we’re still in with a good chance. Saints have been as clunky as us and if we throw it round like last night that will cause problems. Plus Saints pen record atm is unlike them. Not that we want to win off the back of pens but we ain’t ripping up trees atm and looking at these 3 games we were looking at 3 losses.

It’s taken some time but the last 2 weeks have been more akin to the lad I’ve seen in the academy. Confident, playing up tempo and with some aggression and getting out from dummy half, testing defences.

| Considering he was up against Leutele, KPP was outstanding in defence, nothing got through him. Did absolutely nothing with the ball though.
Havard was solid off the bench but would like to see that more often, rather than just against poor packs. Against tougher packs this season he's has not really been effective. Ellis carried much better but for some reason he was only on for about 10 mins either side of HT whereas Havard played 60 mins.
Byrne's defence and those big hits were great, but it just proved how that doesn't translate into points for us. We need field position and strong carries in transition, plus runners off the ball, rather than expending all energy in defence.
And I'm not Shorrocks' biggest fan but he was also great off the bench. Smithies I thought was poor in comparison. Shorrocks has to replace Singleton in the 17 for the rest of the year IMO.

| I agree that Shorrocks did well but not that Smithies didn’t. In those early stages, when the game was full throttle, I thought Smithies took it to them on both sides of the ball. Asiata is an experienced NRL player and him snd Smithies had a really good early battle. It’s all about balance for me. It felt like we found a nice balance on Thursday, with the likes of Byrne, Powell and Smithies starting and Havard, O’Neill and Shorrocks coming on as replacements. They opened us up a bit, once the early scraps had died down a little.
