Tim Smith was awful last night and summed his night up by being that cack scared of getting hit after kicking the ball he ran it up a blind alley and cost us 6 points.

He's a fair weather player who needs his pack to be totally on top.

To be fair to the lad though some of the passes he recieved close to the KR line in the second half were appalling and defenders were on him before he could bend down to pick them up.

I think Noble knew it was going to be a bruiser and needed the extra weight on the pitch, that first 40 was the hardest 40 ive seen in a long time some of the hits were out of this world from both teams. Sam would of been brilliant to bring on in the last 20 but you cant have 5 subs.

I thought the first half was the best half of rugby i've seen for a long time.

It was so intense it was truely superb and the hits were fantastic.

State of origin style defence for 40 minutes.

Just a pity about the try on the hooter, definatly gave KR the lift they needed to win the game.

Like Noble said it's hard not to look back on that but we still should have won the game.

The tackling seemed to take more out of us even though the majority of the big hits were on them which is a worry.

Of course they were. The player the conditions were not right for were Smith - a passer. Tomkins is a running type of half back and in the rain that is what you want not someone trying to spray long passes about. Tomkins would have been ideal.

i hate to say this ... but i agree with dave

in a game where defences were lined up 13 across the field because of the difficulties in playing expansive rugby, the ability to be able to break the line is key.

sam's ability to break would have scored tries when we had pressure on their line. as it was on friday, smith stank and nobody was running off tommys shoulder. we needed something different, but that option had been taken off us.

Not to mention Tomkins' kicking game aswell. Probably our best kicker when he's on form.

Reading your posts, you really need to understand that sometimes, in my case always, people won't share your point of view.

This duty of care thing realy annoys me, yes i can see what nobby is getting at, as you only have to look at fielden to see what happens when you have to much to young.

However, to continue to leave ainscough out is madness. He is the only player who has looked dangerous in open play this year. Look at the availiable wingers, they have done nothing so far.

I have said in a previous thread that i wouldnt pay roberts in washers, and apart from his goal kicking pat is very poor this year, althougth he did nearly beat a man on friday night!

The only shining light is ainscough! And he is being left out for whatever reason. Yes rest him now and again, but he should be first name on the team sheet for the back line.
