The RFL are managing it for MM weekend, only difference a few more yards of white lines, catering , cleaning, divots , mowing pitch etc will all be done in a shorter turn round.

I agree mate but without having facts on the actual rules about how long is permissable between games we cannot input any valuable solutions.

As I have said I would be quite happy to volunteer to clear up the terraces on the Saturday to have it ready for the Latics game on the Sunday - but what are the facts?

Kick 50 rugby balls onto the field from each corner of the stadium for latics next game. Imagine the game being put on hold while they clear rugby balls off the field, it would be on MOTD!

If the BBC insist on having the game on Saturday and if that means it is not a the DW then I will watch it on BBC!

I'll be going if it's at Leigh, Bolton or Wigan no way am I letting Whelan make me miss a Wigan v Saints cup quarter final. As Wane has said, we'll play them anywhere, any time. All that matters to me is a win.

Thats great but if you think that some people (and there are a lot of them - me included) are unhappy about the situation now - just wait and see what opinion is like if we are forced to play away from home and we get beaten.

Sorry ... but this situation is only going to make the dislike so many rugby fans already hold for the football club even worse. And at a time when quite a few folk were gradually warming (or at least growing indifferent) towards them.

At this rate, I can't see a time ever arriving when the majority of people in Wigan like their football team, let alone support them.

The facts are that as long as Latics are in the PL Dave Whelan is going to be an a$$ about where and when Wigan RL play. It is [size=150nothing[/size to do with the PL as there is [size=150NO[/size 24 hour rule. It is simply all at the feet of DW who is trying to protect his investment as best he can. The myth painted by the media that rugby cuts the pitch up doesn't help either. Personally from a Wigan RL POV the next time the media blame them for the pitch I'd use this and the Widnes debacle as proof that that isn't the case.

Anyway, there are three options available to Wigan RL:

Build our own ground
Move out of Wigan and share with someone else
Suck it up and accept that that was what was agreed too.

The first one isn't viable. The second would be an absolute travesty, so the third it is. It's happened twice in 12 years when there has been 5 and 11 days notice. Not exactly a constant issue worth breaking a very favourable deal imo.

Wow ... are we going back again to the activities of Maurice Lindsay in the mid-1980s, or whenever it was? When are Latics fans going to stop bringing up events from what now seems like sporting prehistory ... from an administration that is so long gone most current Wigan fans don't even remember it?

That aside, what you say about the causes of this latest debacle is of course true. But what I said was true as well. Regardless of the reasons for it, this event is yet another nail in the coffin of those who hope to see a town united in sport. It must be very difficult at present for any RL fans in Wigan to view Latics as anything more than a cuckoo in the nest, and - rightly or wrongly - to blame their presence here as the main cause of this embarrassment.

I wasn't bringing it up. I was saying that that is how some would see it. After years of playing second fiddle, some are happy to be the big boys for once hence my tongue in cheek comment on the piespace thread



I will always back the rugby ahead of the football. I didn't even see the game against Stoke last year because I was at Bradford in the cup. The town will never be united in sport unfortunately because of the influx of 'outsiders' that bring their kids up to support the same team they do, or because of children supporting whichever team are winning the PL. This doesn't hep though you're right
