Maybe the RFL can ban every player outside of Headingley to give the poor yorkies a chance

| I don't think Peacock or JJB should be anywhere near the England side either. Mcnamara has picked a squad based on name, not form.
Read an interview today with Peacock saying he wants to play in the 2013 World Cup - I shudder at that prospect.

| Decent player, overrated for me but now totally past ENG selection.
Mind you, whilst grandad Peacock & uncle Morley are being selected I couldn't care less. Not a massive fan of our national side & the current regime aren't helping my enthusiasm

| He never was good enough to face the Aussies. That is why he stayed in Super Duper League, playing against a bunch of burnt out Aussies and very average English players.

And even then he wasn't that good. However, he kept on telling the journalists that it was a crime he wasn't in the England side, so eventually it happened.
If I keep telling my boss that I'm worth what he earns, will it happen? Only in the world of Yaaarkshire RL.

| I really do feel its the coach thats the issue here. He has changed their style of play and they have not taken to it. They play as though they do not agree with the changes and their hearts are not in it. Sinfield and the rest of the Leeds players need to mutiny and go back to what they know will win matches.

I agree, the coach is problem at leeds. Need him out ASAP.

| sinfield is a steady eddy - i think he's solid, can pass, kick ok, run, tackle etc etc but by no means is a half back or creative loose forward. for me he is a good sl second row but good enough for international rl. he is not a good sl 13 but to say he is e is going ott.

I dont think they were saying he was poop. He has been quality for leeds over the years. I think they were saying that he played poop last night, and his form has dropped lately.

That's what Wigan did under John Dorahy, but that was a very special team of multiple sublime talents. Leeds aren't. In addition, Wigan did it more or less with the blessing of the club's management. I can't see Hetherington admitting that he got it so wrong with his new coach that he'd give his blessing to a massive demonstration of player power.
However, something is clearly going badly wrong at Leeds. I thought both sides last night were mediocre for much of the game. Saints had a brief purple patch in the second half, but aside from that it was a crap, error-strewn contest, with nobody looking genuinely committed. However, Leeds were shockingly bad - not just by their own standards, by any standards.
Players who once tore it up - McGuire, Buderus and Burrow - were totally pedestrian. The forwards looked unfit and unwilling to put their bodies on the line. The whole Leeds attack was clueless. As against Warrington, the few scores they managed were token efforts resulting from the opposition briefly not concentrating.
It may be that McDermott is messing things up, but as others have said, Leeds suddenly look old and tired. I don't rate Sinfield and never have. Last night wasn't the first game I've seen when every decision he made seemed to be the wrong one. But there suddenly looks to be nobody around him who is up to the demands of SL's top tier.
This could be a very long season for the Loiners.

You need to go to Specsavers. The Saints players were committed all the way through, bar in defence for about 10 minutes when Leeds scored two soft tries that we should never have allowed through.

| Sinfield is one of those players who you just think, if only he was a bit bigger or much faster then he would be really good. Leeds in general were pretty grim last night and if Sinfield takes this sort of from into the exiles match then you'd think he'd never get picked for England again. Personally, I think Brown, Briers or even Lomax should be at 6.

Briers is Welsh.
Lomax was superb last night he has always looked good when i've seen him. I think he would do a good job at centre for England. Widdop is looking like a good bet for Englands 6. He is killing it in the NRL.
IMO the England team should be:
1. Sam Tomkins
2. Jermaine McGillvary
3. Jonny Lomax
4. Leroy Cudjoe
5. Tom Briscoe
6. Gareth Widdop
7. Danny Brough
8. James Graham
9. James Roby
10. Sam Burgess
11. Gareth Ellis
12. Ben Westwood
13. Sean O'Loughlin
14. Joel Tomkins
15. Luke Robinson
16. Adrian Morley
17. Eorl Crabtree

I must confess, for most of the first half last night, Saints and Leeds looked like sides that were a shadow of what they were 3 or 4 years ago. We looked like sides that were the best, and are now in 4th and 5th places in the league. Having said that, I think the league as a whole is currently lacking in quality, and Warrington are taking their chance to be the best, as much due to other team's lack of quality, as to their own ability. The league is wide open for a new club to collect together a few good players, and take it by storm, as Cas and Quins did briefly earlier in the year. I strongly believe that a well coached side could turn the tables, and win the league from anywhere.

If we're going back 3 or 4 years, both Saints and Leeds are definite shadows of the teams they once were.

| Not fair to single out Sinfield - neither was it Lockers' fault when we were struggling in 2005/6. For me it proves what I have thought for some time - when Peacock's standard drops Leeds are struggling big time.

Saints peaked in 2006 with a freakishly good side, and have been on a steady decline since. Am not sure we will see the likes of that side again, which is good from a league point of view, if not from a Saints fan's pov!

I didn't think that about us at all but I did think it about Leeds. Predominantly, Leeds are still the side they were 3 or 4 years ago and that's their problem. Whereas we are a totally different side to the one we were 3 or 4 years ago, which is our strength. Our squad has an average age of 23 years. That shows in some of the wrong decisions we make (ie lack of experience) but also in the potential we have to move into the next phase of our life as a team. After 2006 the only way for Saints was down as no team can maintain that level of success but we have managed that change very well. Leeds have yet to begin. So I would say that Leeds were a shadow of their former selves while we were an exciting glimpse of our future selves. And Simmons is doing a great job with what he has to hand.

I would agree with you, and think that the young players coming through will ensure that we remain a competitive force for the next few years. In Roby and Loamx, we have two real gems who can be the best in theirpositions for years to come, hopefully we can keep hold of them, and keep them relatively injury free. However, currently, we are in a rebuilding phase, or at least starting to emerge from it.
