| we cant afford to 'rest' our best players against teams like wakefield, and although Phelps isnt a bad player i still think Ainscough on the Wing and Richards too fullback is our best option. Also where has this talk come from that Richards looks injured? Just because he missed some goals? Sh*t happens and im sure he will be practicing them all week in training, because he looked fine to me in general play.
i'd go with:
Richards
Roberts
Gleeson
Carmont
Ainscough
Sam
Leuluai
Fielden
Riddell
Coley
Hock
Bailey
O'Loughlin
Feka
Joel/Hansen
Smith
Prescott

He didnt take kicks into touch or goals in the second half so he was probably carrying a knock

| If fit then the same 17.
Should Richards not be fit then Ainscough into the left wing slot.
Smith starting and doing 80 worked v Celtic. I thought all that was a trial against a not very good team in preparation for three difficult games coming up.

| I think our team is in a mess. I truly do.
We have no true FB.
2, 3, 4, 5 are good.
6-7 is in a mess. We can't work out which is the best pairing or who's best for either 6 or 7. A young lad, a 9 and someone who can't tackle or run and has other issues. (Not good in such a key area).
Props are all poor. (bar Feka)
Riddell is a let down, McClorum doesn't cut it.
Back row-No captain qualities in our capt. Bailey and Hansen have no go forward.
Hock is quality.

| If everyone is fully fit then i'd run with the same side.
I'm not convinced Richards is injured. He may well have given the kicking up due to a lack of confidence. He hasn't been hitting them well from the world cup onwards and in a game we were well on top of it's made sense to give Roberts some practice.
Also if he did have a knock surely he would have been taken off as the game was in the bag after 50 minutes.

Can't believe anyone would want Phelps in the side at FB and Richards on the wing as opposed to Richards at FB and Ainscough on the wing.
Phelps made two awful mistakes that would have had Goulding written off as not going to be good enough and these mistakes were against naff opposition.
Quote Smith starting and doing 80 worked v Celtic. I thought all that was a trial against a not very good team in preparation for three difficult games coming up.'"
The fact something worked v Celtic tells us what exactly?
It would not surprise me in the least if Noble goes with the same 17 and if so given how Phelps played v Celtic then the resting Ainscough/duty of care claptrap will be exposed as nonsense and Nobby will have reverted to his old ways of picking his favourites regardless. Hope I am wrong.

You can only drop him if you have someone to put in his place, and we don't at present.

| I think Phelps should play FB again but not at the expense of Ainscough which is the dilema Noble has at the minute IMO.
As I have said elsewhere Phelps link up play at FB looks very very promising and as much as I like Sir Pat of Richards hes not the best at coming into the line when attacking.

Phelps hasn't really been exposed at fullback yet so it's difficult to know how good he is defensively but attacking wise he's got a far better rugby brain than Richards. I know it's been mentioned that he's played standoff at junior level and I think this comes across with his link up play and his distribution.
