Does anyone really care?

He filled a gap when we signed him, but he's not shown much to excite the crowd. If he wants him away, he can go. We'll need to clear some space anyway, if we're to sign the kind of centre we clearly need for next season.

If he wants to go fine thanks for a the memories but don't use travel as an excuse it doesn't wash I'm afraid

He was ultimately signed as a fullback - it's probably still his best position but others have far surpassed him at Wigan in that role. Him moving to Yorkshire to play fullback and us bringing in a specialist centre will surely be how this one ends.

Certainly seems like the best course of action for us.

I’ve been told today he was acting up and being vocally very critical about Peet in public after the Wakefield match. Deliberately slagging him off loudly and within ear shot of him.

His issue seemed to be that he didn’t want to get the bud back to Wigan and would have preferred to stay around Wakefield. He apparently made a point of not getting on the bus back on time delaying the return journey.

I don’t know if this is why he has been disciplined but I’d expect it had something to do with it.

That seems completely at odds with the embrace both had directly after the game.

Seems a bit weird, like how did he get to Wakey in the 1st place? Did he drive there direct? If not, you'd expect his car to have been in Wigan etc.

Well people talk about how he has to travel from Yorkshire to training - I wonder whether he has to travel to Wigan before an away game for pre-match discussion (or whatever) and perhaps even travel back for post-match discussion/recovery. If that was the case then for an away game in Yorkshire it would be Yorkshire-Wigan-Yorkshire-Wigan-Yorkshire in the space of one day.

Plenty rumours about him back to Leeds and he's played last game for us not sure if it's got legs.

No problem with that if Peet and the club thinks it’s for the best (presuming it’s true like. A guy who seems reasonably in the know on the Leeds forum suggested it as an option but said he’d not heard anything).

Yeah, two days ago I heard from Leeds that Shaun Wane was a coaching option. Seems that was baseless too.

Would be a result for Wigan - frees up some cap for a signing that isn't an indulged, whining baby living off past glories.

Let him go, he won’t be missed. Has been steady for us but isn’t the player he thinks he still is.

Crazy that this time last year he was in the press saying he’s the best fullback in the league and now he isn’t even 2nd best fullback at Wigan.

On a 6 figure salary playing for one of the biggest clubs in the sport and he whinges about a drive he has to do, he wants to get in the real world.

If it’s true he’s not putting his all into training, being late or undermining Peet we should get rid.

I’d rather struggle with young lad or back rower in the centres rather than put up with that.

Without making any comments about his character, it's just poor allocation of resources in a salary capped sport to have one of your top earners never playing in his proper position. You could even argue the same for French, but at least he can be a major threat playing his natural game out on the wing - just not quite as much as if he were full back.

Hardaker is still an excellent full back, but only an above average centre/winger. If we can spend his wage on a younger, specialist replacement, then it's a no brainer.

I'm not going to make any sweeping statements about him, from what I could see the club have handled it, Hardaker made a comment to suggest he's gonna get his head down in training, onwards and upwards.... etc. He's still an integral part of our structure, let's get him playing until the end of the season and play his contract out.

If however we continue to have him sidelined or there's additional issues then that's another matter, but until then lets give him our support.

If we can replace him let him go, if we can’t don’t.

Given our quota status though I don’t see how we can replace him with a better player.

Wardle, Newman, Percival King etc are not going to be allowed to move can’t see Gildart coming home till end of the year at least and we can’t look overseas unless we offload a player (Miski).

Let him go at the end of the year, absolutely and we have no choice anyway but I don’t see how we can let him go yet and improve the squad.

Surely that depends on whether or not his relationship with the coach has completely malfunctioned? If all he's doing is causing trouble, then we might be better off without him.

That said, it could be a strategy ... to make himself such a pain that we let him go without asking anyone to stump up what's left of his contract. So maybe it's best if he just sits out the rest of 2022. (I'd be damned if I let Hetherington have him for nothing, when he's technically still got 6 months to run).

I don't know what Zak's issues are, by the way ... I'm only responding to some of the stories on here.

Fully agree. If he stays then fine but if he goes on loan then there's reasons for it.

If he is causing trouble then get rid, we have a replacement in Halsall

I've always liked Hardaker as a player despite his record but he seems to want to be off so I agree give Halsall a run in the side
