Did the same and it was great. Can't help but wish that we could get a crowd like that either every home game, or at least for half of them.
FWIW, the best atmospheres we've had recently have all been on a Saturday. I'd love to see more home games on a Saturday. Especially if you're like me and it's not as easy to get a beer in the diary with your mates as it once was.

| We seem to be missing a few posters. Where oh where are the Saints fans. Not been able to keep them away recently. Upstaged by the mighty Wigan again. Beating a full strength Penrith side with 4 first teamers out and 1 sub on the bench.
Always in our shadow.

We were around town from just after one and and it was getting busy then. Every pub we went in was buzzing. Great atmosphere everywhere and really good to see so many people enjoying themselves.
I admit I didn’t think that we could beat them in arm wrestle but we did and deservedly so.
I thought that Ellis was the best player on the pitch by some margin and still think that after watching it again this afternoon.
Just wish that the French try was onside. Would have been one for the ages.

I thought Ellis and his mate Yeo were the best two. He’s some player Isiah Yeo. Him and Dylan Edwards don’t seem to quite pick up the plaudits of Cleary, Luai, Fisher Harris etc but they’re fantastic players.
A word for Brad O’Neill as well. He was immense and had a running battle with James Fisher-Harris all night and didn’t take a backwards step. I worried about that middle unit defensively when Smithies left but O’Neill and Ellis are killing it so far.

Agree with all of that.
I said to my son last that I’d love to Yeo playing for us. Plays like an old style British backrower.
I’d be amazed if O’Neil isn’t our next captain when Farrell retires.

It was the same before and after the GF all to quick to criticise and offer their insight when we lose then hibernate when we win.

| Unfortunately I missed the game due to being on holiday.
Heard all about the controversy especially from that dick Phil Gould.
Many congratulations especially from a SL point of view as those Ozzies hate it when we beat them.
Amazing that it is never a congratulatory win when it comes from England and it`s always an excuse waiting to happen from the Aussies.
Well done Wigan and in particular Matty Peet.

You are having a laugh pal, he is a class act both on and off the field. He won Penrith the Grand Final on his own against a superb Broncos team.

| Neither the victory nor the scoreline matter that much.
The main thing is we equalled them.
I feared we'd get eviscerated. We didn't.
No one seriously thinks Wigan are a better team than Penrith, but once again it's been shown that SL's best can mix it with the Aussie best.

| I think Brad O'neil came of age last night, never took a backward step.
Ellis my MOM absolutely awesome.
Marshy, what he went through this last few weeks to play like that very very impressive.
Wardle try-it was good
Their disallowed try -the right call.
Penrith had their chances but couldnt get over with defences like what the excellent Field pulled off.
Wigan without a doubt deserved that win,but to read the comments from some salty fans you would think it was all against the Panthers some decisions went for us some went for them, the six again the head high tackle on Field, they did forward passes as we did but we where better on the day and I really enjoyed the day.
Well done Wigan, well done Peet-won everything since in charge. As pointed out before it felt like the 80s/90s over again with Simply The Best/We Are The Champions at the end.
It must be hurting for the Saints fans at the min.

| Really not sure why anyone would think a Saints fan would’ve been on here last night.
I deliberately kept off as I knew emotions would be high and posters having had a few scoops.
The fact remains that the Wardle try was the biggest impact on the game. There is no way he got the ball over the line. Strangely just after Kendall said he’d viewed all available angles the next replay showed it was short.
Not sure how Moore can categorically give that as a try but not the May one at the end. FWIW I didn’t think that was a try either but it’s still strange that Moore gave one without the other. I’m not at all surprised that the Aussies are going mad.
I actually think this could be the end of the WCC as a concept. I’d be very surprised if their champions travel here again with an English ref.
You’ll all cite sour grapes but you can’t accuse Saints fans of not coming on and then just tear apart what they say.
And the poster that said any other SL would’ve conceded 50 against Penrith last night is laughable. Clearly forgotten about a certain team that won it in Australia without having played a SL game first.

What you should have said is "well done", or even a "well stuck at". Instead you've peddled the same BS that's floating around on Twitter and still want to keep talking about last year.
I'll always stick by my comments - your win last year was good and something to be proud of. This year was harder. I don't expect you to agree, but to not even say well played is laughable.

Absolute bollox. You’re the worst one arrogantly and patronisingly comparing our win to Buster Douglas. One of the worst analogies I’ve ever heard.
We didn’t do it at home with 25,000 fans behind us and a ref who got it wrong. Let’s not forget his incorrect ball steal call when he forgot what the rules were as Penrith were pressing. It was an incompetent display by both him and Kendall.

Try going to Brisbane with no pack and winning the game hands down, then you can come on here lauding about Saints win, a win that Penrith admitted that they never took seriously. Now go and toddle off back to Redvee. I’m loving the fact that Saints fans are almost crying, I’m loving the fact that in the space of six months we’ve taken both the grand final and world club trophies from you. Did I mention that I’m loving it

The people who will decide if the WCC goes anywhere will be the administrators and sponsors. 24,000 in a sold out DW, the week’s build up, a sell out weeks ago and some talking points from the game yesterday make it something more likely than not to happen again. It’s interesting that all this ‘it’ll never happen again’ line is coming from fans of clubs who’ll never have a chance of seeing their own team play in one and a few Saints fans who want to bring it back to 2023 as a comparison. Last night happened, that’s 5 for us now and I won’t really let fans of other clubs go unchallenged peddling the nonsense about the WCC being at risk.

Are we only allowing the result to be looked at through anything going against Penrith then? That the only way the game could’ve gone was to Penrith and that some questionable 6-again calls and high shots going unpunished on Wigan players don’t count?

| Wigan fans- “Where are all the Saints fans?”
Saints fan makes a post…Wigan fans pile in….. is it any wonder?
It didn’t ruin my night, I had a great time at Hudds with my eldest lad making memories and watching an outstanding Saints performance.
The only thing that did temper my mood somewhat was Utd losing to Fulham.

There’ll always be refs calls going either way but that Wardle try won the game for Wigan and he needed an Uber to get to the line from where he was tackled. It was an awful decision compounded by the VR not having the balls to tell him it was way short of the line.
Have a look at any of the clips on social media and tell me that it was a try.

You've yet to tell me the analogy is ridiculous. You never should have won, but you did. Seems pretty spot on to me. That's unless you've got an inflated opinion of your team (which hoi obviously have).

We were underdogs without question, not sure we were the same odds with the bookies as Douglas was to beat Tyson. Not by a long way.
And again how can you slate Saints fans for going missing on here but then they aren’t allowed to give an opinion because it goes against the party line.

If that try hadn’t been given, there’s about 35 mins or whatever that would’ve been different. It’s just sour from you to pick that as the only contributing factor to us winning. I’ve seen plenty of screenshots where there’s an argument it was a try as well. It’s contentious but crying over it won’t get you anywhere.

Who said you aren't allowed an opinion? You've just made that one up.
There's having opinions, I had one you don't agree with, and being that salty to not even say well done. I don't think your achievement is what you'd have us believe, but I still said well done.
All you've done is b!t©h. Is it that hard to say (regardless of the what you think about the try) that we might have somehow played well?

As I’ve said the only reason I’ve come on is because it was intimated I had gone missing. So I’ve given my thoughts. Quite why you are seeking my validation I’ve no idea. It’s in the history books as a Wigan win despite the controversy.
What I find nauseating now is the comments that Peet is coming out with. I was a big supporter of him initially, a talented young English coach who spoke the truth.
However now it seems that only his players are mates with each other, only his club does community work, only Wigan players are in the trenches with each other. It’s as though no other SL club has a winning culture and it’s starting to grate.
It actually suits in a way as we are flying hugely under the radar. There was even a poster on here that said HKR will win a Grand Final before we do again.
I just hope we can make the play offs based on that.
