You get the feeling that the club do things like this to deliberately antagonise the fans. Don't mess with the club badge and dont mess with the tradition of cherry and white hoops. Tinker with the kit slightly yes but they should never deviate from history and tradition.

The website page explaining it all suggested that Super League suggested league wide rebranding. At least we can blame them for it.

The extent of the backlash on Twitter tells its own story. Not one positive comment that I can see.

They’re clearly aware that the new badge would go down like a fart in a lift so why do it? Due to a superleague audit apparently. I think superleague has far bigger things to worry about than Wigan’s crest.

Superleague is nothing without Wigan. Or saints and leeds for that matter. Tell em.to FO if they want to change something so significant

I don’t particularly like the re brand and I understand most on here won’t either.

The simple fact is though it isn’t aimed at us. We are the old farts to a certain extent the captive audience.

Clearly the club knew it wasn’t going to go down well with the traditional fans however they are aiming at a new younger market and securing the next generation of fans.

The old crest was/is dated in reality and if this rebrand helps boost attendances and helps support the drive for younger fans then I’m all for it.
