He's another being sought after by Yawnion.
Should probably be in the rumours thread, but I've heard it's a possibility. Hope not, he's a good 'un.

| Greg Burke has always been years ahead of his age in experience. Having been all through school with him and played with him at certain age groups I've seen first hand how dangerous he's been at lower age groups before signing for Wigan and in U18/20s games afterwards. It'd be a shame to lose him to Yawnion.

Do you think Maguire's attitude to the CC will have altered slightly?
Barrow at home would be a great opportunity to blood in a couple of those 'promoted' players whilst still retaining a strong team.

Thnx Geoff.
First Ashton then Thornley and now possibly King and Burke. Damn you Sale!

Hate to say it but imo Marsh is the problem here. Reckon Madge has a big problem with the 3/4trs now that Gleesons gone. He's already intimated that Marsh isn't a winger but neither is he up to SL standard at centre. With Amos reverting back to his 2009 form he'd be reluctant to play him on the wing, which just leaves Goulding.
Personally, I'd go with Charnley as Gouldings centre and try Roberts with Carmont. If this doesn't work, then the only option is to bring Pryce back and hope he shows what he's capable of.

Aye, our full strength team didnt do that gooda job vs Sheffield last year did they? I expect players like Crosby, Marsh, Charnley, Mellor to play vs Barrow, giving the older players a rest eg coley, carmont, deacs, amos etc
Something like
Sam
Goulding Marsh Charnley Pat
Finch Leuluai
Prescott McIlorum Mossop
Hoffman Hansen
Lockers
Faz Crosby Mellor Lima

A winger, whatever his standard, will always struggle without a good centre and Gleeson is a very good one, as proved by the fact that he made Henry Fa'filli look half decent at Wire....
From what I can see, Goulding isn't a bad winger, he just isn't the type to bust a few tackles and run 70 yards for a sensational try....Saying that, there isn't a lot of them around at all today, which makes it doubly important you have a couple of good centres.
Sadly, the days of Offiah, Drummond, Robinson, etc, scoring tries that have crowds rubbing their eyes in amazement have long gone.

A little OTT team selection for me.
Whilst we did struggle against Sheffield last season I can’t see Barrow posing a problem. Lets face it a home tie should get advantageous to us as well as the pshycological edge of our reserves beating them pre season.
Lets simply be smart about this and use it to give game time to those that need it and rest those guys that have played week in week out.
I’d go for
Amos
King
Goulding
Charnley
Pat
Finch
Mellor
Mossop
Tomkins
Lima
Tuson
Joel
Faz
Crosby, Tommy, Hansen & Prescott
Some may scoff at that team but for me it’s the right balance of strength and youth.

| For me Goulding has come under a lot of un due stick on here lately.
Alright hes no Jason Robinson for his speed and trickery, or Pat Richards for his all round game or even a Brian Carney for the tackle busts and strength but hes a very good player who wants to play for Wigan.
Last season, when played outside of a good centre he scored about 30 tries. Not bad at all, he always looks decent under high ball and makes valuable yards from 1st and 2nd plays in our 20. Hes a natural finisher - anyone remember his try at Leeds last year? Great anticipation and eagerness to get there.
If we see him outside Carmont this weekend as rumoured, I expect a try or 2 off him and an all round better game - How many passes as he recieved of Marsh with any type of 'theres space, go go go'? like he was recieving of Gleese last year?
And before anyone mentions about hes only good outside a good centre.. which wingers aint? Only world class wingers can play to a good level without a good centre inside them, and we havent got the cap space for them so lets go as we are.
