| At the launch of the 2008 season the RFL announced they were to continue their successful policy of levelling. By the and of the World Cup 2008 we knew the level English Rugby League had sunk to.
If levelling down is their policy and long term aim then we are all in trouble.
The salary cap has been static for almost the 12 years it has been in operation. It needs to change and improve.
Although I'm dead against it and always will be I know many people who are for it but they think it needs to improve.
Some believe it should have an inflation amount figured in.
Others think we should exclude players under 21 years of age.
Many are of the opinion it should go back to 50% of turnover.
When you read the RFL launch material nowhere does it mention improving standards or a way of improving our International Squads competitiveness.
This has to come from the Super League Chairmen.
Lenagan & McManus should takle the lead to take the game forward.

| Quote ="{Hogan}"After the game on Saturday i was leaving the ground back to my hotel and i waas thinking about the game, usually i would be pee'd off or angry towards Wigans performance. But i wasnt, i simply wasnt bothered that we had lost to the worst team to grace Superleague since Leigh the other year.
Maybe its the way the players just dont looked bothered either, maybe its starting to rub off on the fans who pay there hard earned each week and turn up with the hope that they may turn it around.
But im typing this post now, and i seriously would not be overally concerned if i didnt get to watch Wigan again this season. Simply bored of watching them with the lack lustre attitude.
Is anyone else feeling this way....?'"
Completely agree! Pretty much all of our games this season have been carbon copies. You know exactly what you're going to watch before you get into the ground. Sick to death of it now.

| we were going to go to Hull KR at the end of the month but after Saturday and with it being on sky we are not bothering.
If you take into account the tickets, petrol, food etc and the fact I would be missing a shift at work I can earn double time for then the day would cost us in the region of around £150 for something we can watch on sky.
If it had not been on sky then of course we would have gone, but there is no way I am prepared to risk throwing so much money away and see them get thrashed because they don't give a damn.

Thats a fair point mate, but what happens if we renew Nobles contract and 12 months down the line we are doing the same thing. Winning the odd important game, losing too many to, frankly, poor teams!

Whilst I'm not of a mind to be making announcements about how many games I plan to go to, it has occurred to me that I've not been to the last 4 games now due to various other commitments and I haven't missed it in the slightest.

| When Wigan recovered from the early 80's slump, it took more than a change of coach.
The club had ambitious successful businessmen running it at director level.
You could have whoever you want coachig the side now but it won't change until the club is run more professionally.
And to answer Hogan's point, I no longer make the 400 mile round trip. If the club doesn't give a bugger, then neither will I.
Supprted since 1965, endured a 20 year dry spell in the challenge cup like others on here, but never felt the players were quite so apathetic.

A new, quality coach would be a good start, and a more realistic option than changing the club-owner. That isn't something you can do by clicking your fingers.

| Cruncher, Don't totally disagree, but the solution will medium or long term, not short term.
We had some damn successful coaches from elsewhere back in the 70's slump who could do nothing at Wigan because of the shambles the club was in.
Vince Karalius told me it wasn't until he'd ben hired that they told him he didn't pick the team!

This point was raised earlier in the season. I'm getting to a point were I'm going to the game out of habit rather than enjoyment. It's getting me out of the house for a few hours. I did get my hopes up after a good win against Saints and a good 20mins against Salford but a result like the one on Saturday just leaves me feeling empty* again.
I debated last year about getting a season ticket again for this year and after going to the fans forum my interest was reignited, but I'll seriously consider getting a nice pair of shoes for my birthday rather than a season ticket for next year if things don't change. I don't think I'll be on my own either.
*Maybe an over exaggeration. I have got far more important things in my life than a rugby game.'"
Word for word for how i'm thinking!
Big changes required to get me interested in getting a season ticket!
Otherwise I'll just pick and choose my games.

We got to our first CCup final in years in 1984 with Murphy in charge, he wasn't the answer either and was not in charge the year after. We had a stop gap in Clarke and McKinnes then Graham Lowe took over.
There is nothing that should keep Noble here next year, even winning cup and Grand Final, he's just not the right coach for Wigan.

As much as i would love us to win the cup, the thought of it ensuring BN gets a new deal does take the edge off it.
Hopefully the result at the weekend will be the final nail in the coffin and a new coach will be contracted for 2010 long before the semi let alone the final.

| I was away at the weekend so thankfully missed my first game of the year! Had constant updates and tbh wasn't really suprised which says alot about where this clubs at.
The players attitudes stink and they don't look capable of getting themselves up for 70-80% of games and the buck has to stop with Noble. He makes the same noises every week after defeats and he won't pick players on merits. He picks on reputation whatever he says or over people may say and we won't move on like that. Even with a big squad the majority of fans can predict his 17 on any given week and it shouldn't be like that.
The final straw with me came after he dropped Sam for Salford last week so the result at the weekend did nothing but strenghen my belief on that score.
He should do until the end of the season, be patted on the back for getting us from the bottom of the table to a side that at least has potential ability about it and be shown the door.

I feel like that too.. But, if I didn't get a season ticket, something would be missing. Not sure what, because this year has been boring as owt, but it just wouldn't be right not to get a season ticket.

I fail to see the issue. Tompkins is a kid. He needs to be protected and thus will have to sit out some games (as Wheeler, Eastmond, Lomax, Ashurst et al are at Saints). Noble's only doing what any sensible coach would.

Yeah I can understand where you're coming from myself.
A BIG club that has a magnificent past and quite likely a pretty good future when it's all said and done but you can't be f*****g bothered to actually support them through a few barren years, can you.
I'll tell you what mate, try being a fan of Doncaster right now, our my club Hornets, we don't know where the next penny is coming from or if we'll even be in business next season and you're in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
Goodness me what a sanctimonious bunch of whingers you lot are, it's time to grow up and smell what you're shovelling and consider what it's like for fans who don't get even the success you're all moaning about.
Rochdale Hornets haven't had a game for three weeks as our pitch is up for repairs, we have no money coming in except for lottery cash and that won't keep us going alone.
I'll tell you one thing though, I will be at every match whether we play well or badly and I'll support every fund-raiser I can and put in as much cash as I can get past the wife because I love my team. I've supported them for 44 years probably before a lot of you were f*****g twinkles and success was getting spanked by Saints in the Cup!
If you've got more important things than Wigan then do them, my family know I had Hornets before them and they take their place as well as my club.
Some of you make me want to puke!
Pugwash.

The issue was that we're not a good enough side to be leaving one of our better players out however young he may be especially seeing that he was going to get the next 2 weeks off after that anyway!!!
He also had a rest week only 3-4 weeks before the Salford game against Hull Kr.

Difference is at Saints they are replaced by players like Wellens, Long, Gilmour or Pryce and you've got plenty of strength in depth to not miss them.
Sadly Wigan needs Tomkins to play for the rest of the season to salvage anything from it and we can’t afford to rest him.

To be brutally honest fella, you're just Rochdale....!
At our club continuous failure just isn't an option.
Supporter power is a powerful tool, it has changed things before and it will change things again.
