I really cant believe that people are seriously suggesting signing Senior, talk about a step back to the Noble era. He was past his best a few years ago and this season looked like a season too far and he has been fairly poor. That is before you even consider that he is 35 and has had a season ending injury.

I've read names suggested like Long and Senior in these past few days added to the Sun linking us with Lauaki.

If the quality of signing we need isn't available for the right price then we go with what we've got. We have the best u20's team in the country for a reason.

But in all honesty I actually couldn't see Senior in our squad. I'd like him to sign for Wakefield, along with some others, to help them build on their squad for next season.

How about this - if our young centres need an education they can learn from the best centre in SL, a model professional and Wigan legend. When we have one player who is near the end of his career but is still world class, why would we sign Senior, who's past it?

Why is he past it? Sounds like you're referring to his age and not his performances which are what matters. Before his injury he was one of the top centres in SL. With the current stand point we could probably get him on a low SC and he's British.

So in reflection we're talking about signing one of the top British centres on a low SC. Could be excellent business.

His performances at the beginning of this season showed he was past it!! Reckon he could do another season at tops for a lower placed team in the back row. But as a centre in a team challenging for honour - no no!

I'm sure you mean well but, seriously? You want us to spend SC on Senior? And what, play him alongside Carmont? (You clearly couldn't play him instead of Carmont because Carmont is the best centre in SL). How would that help our young players?

His performences have been on the wane for a couple of years

His form this season has been poor

He's out with a cruciate Knee injury at the minute that some players 10 years his junior struggle to come back from

Centres, good centres aren't exactly ten a penny, we know this as we need another (always have since Gleeson) Carmont is excellent but in truth the jury is still most defo out on Joel and even more so Marsh in the centre position.

KS is still one of the best centres in the league without question, have cover and an expert quality centre to add to our team will only strengthen our backline.
If the price is right it could be a good signing. Don't forget he won't take up a quota spot.

In all honesty for all the positives the is only one real downside-his age, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor in a signing.

It would be dreadful business. The theory that young players somehow learn from playing in the U20's whilst an older player takes up the position they would otherwise be playing is absurd. Senior was clearly slowing down before his serious leg injury and will have to work incredibly hard to come back at that level alone. As a person he's never struck me as a great role model to have around either with his shenanigans on overseas tours. What do you think he could teach our players that our bank of experienced full time coaches cannot?

why would Keith Senior come to Wigan "on the cheap anyway" when he can go to Widnes or Wakefield on a decent salary? What message does it give out to the youngsters coming through that we have signed KS?

They could 'learn' from him whilst being farmed out on dual registration deals.

He's a grade A tool as proved by his ramblings on twitter today.

He along with some of the other Leeds lot were a disgrace at the end of the play off game last season and thats just another small reason as to why i'd add him to my not to sign list.

Some people would make any signing just for the sake of it.

And some people would reject any signing for the sake of it. There's always a bigger picture.

I wouldn't reject sensible signings or signings with some sort of rational behind them but this simply hasn't.

The only reason I could see for signing him would be experience yet we've ensured we've got that in the centres by signing Carmont up. We have 12 months to now bed somebody into that right sided centre position whilst searching the world for Carmonts replacement.

Signing Senior would add little to the side in the short term and create some big problems going forward imo.
