Started watching Latics when they got promoted to the league in 79/80 (ish), and had a season ticket for a few years. Stopped going as the trouble at games got worse and narrowly avoided ending up in the middle of pitched battles several times. Saw a policeman get a dart thrown at him and stuck in his face, about an inch below the eye at Port Vale (or was it Northwich - somewhere in that part of the world anyway?)
Found American Football and followed that, and then got introduced to the joys of Central Park and haven't looked back since

Why has this turned into who would Latics have in a 'Walk of Fame' ? If they want one and if they think they can pull one off whilst keeping a straight face then good luck to em'
This is about us and our pride in our HISTORY and who we consider to have been the key figures in that tradition. We have taken a lease in the Grand not Latics, we have put on a 'Walk of Fame' not Latics and the majority of Wiganers love the rugby club not Latics.
I don't think we should lower ourselves to a debate over sporting 'relevance' with Latics men. They use the 'national/world game' argument every time to hide the fact that they are a comedy football outfit of little relevance locally & nationally.
We don't need to hide behind any other argument than Wigan RL and the pride we feel in our own club.
