A freindly is a split gate though, so by attending you will actually be giving your club more. Attend or don't attend, your choice, but do so from an informed position of the money to your club.

Its that time of year again, Leigh's big day, DVD will be out in time for easter if they win.

2. Whether you go or not is your choice,but to say that others who do want to go are fools is a bad attitude to your fellow supporters and to the rugby league game in general.

3. There will be some great players from both teams on display which should make it a great afternoon of rugby league.

4. And to say it's pointless, well it's very important for clubs/players to get their pre-season preparation in place ready for the coming season. If you think friendlies are pointless,have word with your club about them.

5. And like Hindsfordleyther79 states, it will be a split gate,so the proceeds go to both clubs.

The first eight words of point no2 are all that matters. You are making a play on the words that I used with regards the use of the word "fool". If people wish to attend then that is their prerogative, I will be watching the game albeit on Wigan tv for which I may add that I have already paid into Wigan Warriors coffers for the benefit of this. Therefore (and I use the word again) I'd be a "fool" to be paying twice to see a friendly.

I think it's a good squad myself. A good mix of regulars and youth.

I suppose you might be telling those very fans they are fools who wish to go to the Catalan game for spending whatever number of pounds it cost, when you could watch it on Wigan tv for hell of a lot cheaper.

On the contrary my Catalans trip is already booked and paid for, this is not a pointless friendly but a game that actually means something and before you start going on about watching the younger players i regularly attend the academy games at orrell and quite often attend away academy games.
I'm not calling anyone fools for attending the game but merely for paying £20 to do so, its their choice/prerogative or whatever else you wish to call it if they would like to attend the game just like its my choice/prerogative not to.

It is totally wrong and ignorant of you to term important pre season preparation games as pointless friendlies involving great players from both clubs.

BTW - It is also possible that Catalan have secured their top 8 place,and Wigan for that matter and decide to field a very much weaker than normal team when you play them away in July. Would that then not become pointless? Maybe you are then the fool for paying a substantial amount of money for what could become a pointless game.




FWIW - I think there will be some better intense rugby played at the LSV ( in the pointless friendly as you call it ) than maybe one or two of your games in Super league this coming season.

Shaun wane is Wigan through and through and I can tell you now that he wants to win this game at Leigh, In fact he wants to win every game.I for one am grateful he as picked a decent fairly strong squad. Would you have the audacity to tell Shaun wane that this is a pointless friendly?.......................thought not.

No way will Wigan purposely field a weakened team at any time during the season never mind in July.

I know Shaun Wane ,he hates losing in any way shape or form,and loves beating Leigh,he's a bit of a wind up merchant, but a guy I have a lot of time for,he will be at the LSV on Sunday busting a gut to beat Leigh,pointless friendlies don't exist to Shaun.For what it's worth I think Leigh will win by around 20 points maybe more.

I stick with what I said, it's a pointless friendly and I'd be more than happy to tell Shaun Wane the same thing. If your all gee'd up for it then good for you and I hope you enjoy the game but as I've said from the first post, it's not for me and not worth paying £20 to watch, I would rather save the £20 and add £2 to it and watch Wigan v Brisbane. It's quite obvious that the game means more to you than it does to me. I hope it's a good game, I will be watching it but from the comfort of my armchair.

Friendlies are used to test strategy, to see how the younglings cope away from the training ground and confirm the fitness of the more established, returning players.
I can't get to Orell for reserves games, so this'll actually be my first look at some of the new squad.
Also, neither us nor Leigh are registered charities so at least some recoupment of costs has to be sought. £20 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Who bestowed on you the right of arbiter to decide how I spend my hard earned cash?

But its ok for you to tell me how I should spend my hard earned cash is it? Please don't fill me with all this "strategy bollox" that you mention because strategy doesn't come into it, the game is all about blowing the cobwebs off and giving people a run out. You can't get to academy games whereas I can therefore I've seen how the young lads are progressing and therefore don't need to see them in a pointless "friendly". I can and will watch the academy games throughout the season, something that I have always done in the past and will continue to do so in the future. The point you make about charity doesn't warrant a reply to be fair. At the end of the day if you want to go and watch the game and pay £20 then go ahead and do it, it doesn't affect me either way.

Obviously enough for this pointless rant. I'm not presuming to tell anybody to do anything. I'm not that self absorbed or arrogant.

I’ll be attending, I’m sure there will be thousands of other fools to join me. After two months without any professional rugby £20 feels like an absolute bargain! As someone else already mentioned, these Leigh friendlies are usually better than quite a few of our regular season games. Particularly looking forward to seeing how Tierney and Powell get on, they both need a big season if they are to make it at the club IMO.

Can't see Kyle Shelford starting second row, I don't recall him playing there for wigan at all.
I think he will start at loose and Davies in at second row. Apart from that I agree.
