Nothing like a spectacularly patronising generalisation is there!
From a personal perspective Saturday games, unless they are teatime/evening KO, are difficult for me to get to due to other commitments and I suspect for a lot of people that is far more of a motivation than the cost for why people didn't show up.

| Quote ="Th'Observer"When the Brigantes first came about with the colourful flags above the South Stand, the flag waving at the bottom and the banners in the crowd it was fantastic. It was the best atmosphere we had probably ever seen at the DW. Okay, it still wasn't outstanding but it was so much better than nothing.
A club within a club? You seriously need to get over yourselves with that attitude. Some Wigan fans pi$$ and moan about the lack of atmosphere yet condemned one of the best things for generating atmosphere in what was basically a "fans movement".
It is a shame that some morons got involved and spoiled it to a certain extent but I honestly don't see why the movement couldn't have continued to exist despite that.
The people running the original Brigantes with the flags and scarves were clearly sensible and knowledgeable people who are passionate about the club and did all they could in their spare time to have meetings and generate ideas. I thought it was bloody marvellous and before anyone says, no, I wasn't a part of the movement but I admired it from my seat in the East Stand.
It was great and it inspired things like the "Fat Dogs" at Bradford. For a brief spell it became the envy of many fans of opposition Super League clubs based on what was going on at both home and away matches. I'd love to see it return. The movement should be resurrected.
For those who don't like the Brigantes, for those who don't like the drum but continue to moan about the poor atmosphere. What is it that you exactly want? Besides moaning consistently about anything. If you don't like noise, don't go to an event which consistently sees 11,000+ people attend.
Stay at home, draw your curtains and be an armchair fan in the comfort of your own silence.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank those who take their time to put up the flags at the top of the South Stand. It's the one bit of residue left from a really positive and vibrant movement created by the fans.'"
The flags were great, the singing was great, the drums were great.
The writing however was on the wall as soon as the scull & crossbones flag came out, the language deteriorated and they started wearing hoodies with scarves covering their faces. Prefer the way we are to that.

Can I please point out that the few that were banned were not in anyway linked to the 'Brigantes', they were a group of lads that tried to attach themselves to the group and were shunned but followed the others to games and due to their own 'agenda' ended up getting punished after the Huddersfield affair.

| Lets face it the game is dying - waves of talent lured away to NRL or RU, no major stars to light up a crowd, dreary games, videos refs boring the pants of us all and the new farce of a comp which no one understands. Its is very difficult to keep the enthusiasm of my 12 & 13 yr old lads but at least the flags, drums, songs and enthusiasm they generated gave them some enjoyment.

| The original Brigantes were also the people who created the new songs that have now become popular e.g. 'Cherry and White' & 'We are the Boys'.

| I would normally go to cup games etc. However, as a ST holder, I'm getting fed up of the club offering regular season games to non-ST holders throughout the season at discounted prices when I've paid not far off full price for each match through buying a season ticket. Lets face it, there isn't that much of a discount. I'm paying to go to crap games like Bradford and Harlequins when non-ST holders can just turn up for the big games or half decent games at a fraction of the cost. That is why I couldn't be d paying even more to attend the cup game, especially with it being on TV. If it wasn't for me wanting to keep my seats, I wouldn't bother getting a ST again.

Absolutely spot on.
If just 10% of our āfansā put in half the amount of thankless effort (to actually take the time to organise meetings, make flags, banners etc..,), noise, and passion that the Brigantes managed to put into the club, we wouldnāt have a problem with a lack of atmosphere.
To borrow & amend a line from JFK ,āAsk not what your club can do for you, ask what you can do for your clubā.
I would also add my thanks to the fans still who take the time and effort to put up the flags in the South stand. Yet something else most fans just take for granted & man about when they aren't there. Was pleasantly surprised and amazed to hear a couple of chants starting in the East Stand last night - It can be done!

I was in the East Stand near where the chants started. It started with one or two people and this infected those around them who joined in. The 'one man Brigante' thing last night also showed that it only takes a small catalyst to get things going. I think most people want to get an atmosphere going but it just needs a Cataylst. Sometimes the game is the catalyst itself e.g. if the team is playing particularly well or if the game has particular meaning such as a Derby or against another close rival. So my take on last night is that what we need are just a few enthusiastic individuals strategically located in each stand to spark things off. If they operated as a team then it would be even better. I think this would be accepted more by the majority of the fans rather than trying to have a separate dedicated singing section or fan group.

No probs (me, conroy and our new recruit had a smashing time last week with our erection).
Our new recruit passed his interview so we have more members in the Erection section now which should help us moving forward as it has been very difficult to organise this year due to personal and work issues for me and conroy.

| The club need to concentrate on getting the 2000 or so regular fans from a couple of seasons ago back. Our average attendance has been steadily declining since 2011. Having the main singing/noise making section at the back of the south is definitely the way forward.

Anyone who knows me knows how "Cutting Edge" I am.
I do still have a pigeon coop so you can always send it that way?
PS, seeing as your in the game I'm guessing you'll get the groundwork done on the cheap so don't spare when it comes to the cladding

I would also like to see it return in some form, even if it is just to fund more flags and put on displays. It doesn't necessarily have to be a 'singing' group to start.
