| Quote ="Cas Till I Die"id 100 percent sooner Leeds win everything rather than you lot, based purely on the fact that Wigan are a bunch of salary cap cheating, thuggish knuckle dragging pigs and if it meant you lot win nothing ever again I'd be happy for Leeds to win it all. HTH
'"
I've asked many people why they hate Wigan, and I never get an answer that works. Thuggish? I don't know the stats but I'd be interested to see how many teams have had more players banned in recent seasons than Wigan. Cas are the 4th most penalised team in the league, so, you know, your discipline isn't good. SW is no more or less of a gobe than other coaches and they all say stupid things. He's more in the spotlight than 2/3s of SL coaches so cockroaches like you can get your quotes ready.
As for the cap, you've already had that handed to you twice, so I'd shut up about that.
Literally all I can think of is the success in the past. You lot all grew up seeing Wigan win everything, and that's stuck even though Wigan aren't winning everything, that resentment is almost passed on in the DNA. Sam way everyone hates Man Utd. They're one of, if not the biggest "brand" in their sport and a lot of people naturally hate the big ones.

| I thought this thread was about me catching my new shoes on the edge and falling up the steps in the west stand and spilling a complete pint of beer over myself.
I literally made a complete fool of myself as i accelerated as fast as i could trying to delay the inevitable.
Looked up and about 2000 people were laughing their heads of at my misfortune
I must have looked like a right bell

Worse than me a few ago. After a game I ran across the road (near Burger King), tripped and landed flat out, spreadeagled! Not my finest moment.

| I hurt my foot midweek (a form of tendonitis I think called turf toe) and not moved from bed for 3days.
I got dropped off near front of West stand about 5.30 and it took me 35 mins to hobble and get to my seat in east stand using a home made walking stick.
Not my finest moment and would much preferred a full pint poured over me!

Wish i could put that down to a dodgy foot.....

| Rugby league isn't football; for me it's a bit more complicated than that. Players put their bodies on the line for our entertainment, and I don't see a contradiction between cordially disliking certain teams (say Brisbane Broncos, or Leeds), whilst still admiring and respecting some of the players (like Hunt, Milford, Hall and Burrow).
It's like that thing about, when your team is playing your arch-rivals in a big match, are you glad if their star player is injured and can't play? I'm not. I want us to beat their full-strength team.

I just thought the Cas fans were having a laugh and some fun for their final game of the season and there is nowt wrong with that from where I come from.
Some of vitriol though on this thread confirms my view that Kelvin Skerrett must have gone out with some their mam's whilst their dad's were doing a shift down the pit.

| Oh we laughed when Ryan Hall nicked it at the death to deny the Goons the LLS.
Karma for the 'shield back in the box' incident at our place last season.
Boot now firmly on the other foot.

We got a home semi, we don't need a hub cap to end any trophy droughts and I think everyone at Wigan is happy enough that the best side over the course of the season got the LLS.
The biggest prize of the season is still to play for and if that goes tits up for us in similar circumstances feel free to take the mick.
Ps Leeds last second try got Saints a harder game then playing Wigan by the way! Laugh at that.

Exactly right.
Only downside of what happened is that what would have been two decent crowds in the semis will now become one as our game will struggle to break 8,000.

| The endless replaying of Ryan Hall's try on Sky Sports News highlighted one thing for me. The unconfined joy on the faces of the Leeds fans and players clearly meant something. The LLS mattered to them. They were desperate to win it.
Personally I wasn't that bothered. I just wanted a home tie next week.
As for the Cas fans. Getting 40 odd points stuck on them clearly didn't matter much to them either. I know at their place earlier this season I just skulked away. Disgusted at our performance. Their bizarre antics on Friday just made them look stupid.
One word lads; "Dignity".

I suspect that in and of itself, the LLS Shield means little more to most Leeds fans than it does to you, though the £100K that comes with it tops up the war chests a little But it matters this season because having won the CC, still being with a shout for the GF, it would be part of what could be the perfect send off for some key members of our "golden generation". In short we want the illusive treble. Obviously there are 3 teams out there desperate to take the last and biggest prize of the 3 for themselves. Bring it on

| the hall try at the end, the film footage and the photograph doing the rounds, could just well be an iconic moment in our game, and we (the whole game) should be shouting about its up there with wide to west, Burrows grand final try, the catalan comeback at saints. we really don't push these iconic moments as much as we should.

Had we not won the CC then I wouldn't have been as bothered, but it's not every season you get close to doing the treble. To do it at anytime would be great, IF (and it's still a big IF) we did it in Sinfield and Peacock's swansong would be even more special. We've pretty much done everything in their time at the club.....apart from a treble.
Also I think for the players it meant a lot because they've taken quite a bit of stick over the last few years for their regular season finishing positions.

| Meh! The Cas fans will have just been sticking it to you as that is where they were at the time as circumstances unfolded. They stuck it to us the week before and some were even chanting "Wigan, Wigan" on the West Terrace. It was just banter. No one spit their dummy out about it.

So, in other words it was meaningless. Which just about sums it up.
The point about this Yorkshire thing is this; NO-ONE is bothered outside of Yorkshire. When the chant goes up people just shrug the shoulders. I mean we just couldn't care less about which county you live in/were born in.
And the idea that I would stick up for Saints (Merseyside) or Warrington (Cheshire) because they are playing in Leeds is ridiculous. Saints are the enemy. Whoever beats them is alright with me.

Spot on. The old Yorkshire / Lancashire rivalry died when the changed the boundaries imo.
Lancashire for me is a cricket thing and associated with Blackburn, Burnley etc.
It's about as meaningful as Hudds fans chanting Fartown.

I strongly suspect that Wane and his troops would have expressed the same unconfined joy had Wigan pipped Leeds on friday with the last play of the regular season .
To win two pieces of silver is a fine achievement , all three would be outstanding .
I am puzzled as to why you aren't bothered ?
A sure sign you have trophy fatigue my friend
