I would like to be keeping cade cust in the team myself, we have him for potentially 2 more seasons, definately one so the cust/smith partnership could be what we are looking at for the next 2 years potentially. They seem to be building a good partnership together and i wouldn't want to distrupt that unless necessary. Making use of the time until leuluai is back fit. Other then that i would be happy with this team, nice mix of youth and experience.

I understand your comments re Cust but a bit of a rest and keeping our "powder dry" isn't a bad thing at this stage of the season.

Agreed. He's something of an "all in" type of player too, continually taking it into the defensive line, so I think a rest would probably do more good than harm.

We’re suffering here from having too many of the young lads in with the “nearly good enough” crew. The wrong type of first team experience to actually get a look at how suited the academy/reserve lads are to first team rugby. Hopefully that try will give us a bit of belief that we look like we’ve needed so far. I’d love for Mago just to take an actual drive in where he’s looking to bust first and foremost rather than constantly looking for the offload. Coming onto the ball at pace would be a start.

The more I see Mago, the more I’m reminded we are missing a dominant front row to get the best out of him, he just isn’t a pack leader or game changer in that regard. Occasional flashes are there to make you think ‘if only.’

If he ran with the gusto Ollie P then he’d absolutely kill it IMO with his size. Too much of what he does is late-career Fieldenesque…standing still wanting to wrestle and handoff without actually going anywhere. He’s been like that in a number of games. When he runs proper he often gets an arm through and at worst ends up on his front.

One positive, Isa is totally playing himself into the last days of his career at the club. It’s blindingly obvious he’s behind Farrell, Bateman, Smithies.

We were poor at times and didn’t deserve to win tonight but we showed good character again to fight back. I’m confident we would have won had we not rested players. As others have said Miski played well and he really goes through hard yards from our own line.

He's not been very good in that dept tonight
