| Simple - he needs a run in his favoured position to see if he can make the position his own. I do not get a lot of the criticism because he has never had a settled run in the team at centre - a few games here and there through a season hardly is a fair trial (and given he picked up a significant injury last season) so far he has been centre, wing and second row.
A player moving up from a lower league will need time to adjust (just like a young player starting in the first team) and that is not made easy when the player is in and out of the team.
Attacking play always needs more time to develop and given the Wigan's right edge is the poor relation to the left side it is not that easy to stand out as an attacking force.
Will he make it - time will tell, but I do not think he has done badly but we need to see if there is more to come with a run in the team, and lets face it if he can be a decent goal kicker it would be a major boost given how long it is since we had one of those!

| If Friday is anything to go by, he keeps his spot for now. Even though Sarge did well too, I'd even keep Hankinson at right centre even if Zak comes back.
This isn't really a slight on Sarge at right centre - the way that we're geared up to attack down the left (and the lack of a creative 7) has meant for years individuals down our right side have struggled to make much of an attacking threat, and had to make do with scraps and being useful in other areas. Even gelling, who'd probably been our best right centre for some time, wasn't all that prolific in scoring or setting them up. Until that changes, it's going to be difficult for anyone to stand out in my view, and at least Hank is a natural on that side and is a top quality goal kicker.

Had no clue he was a goal kicker - looked the most random thing ever when he was lining them up on Friday.

| Greenwood is a biscuit and you're never going to have him free of injury for as long as you or he needs. Waste to even talk about his coming back into the fold lol.

Doesn't at all change my point about Greenwood. And Widdop is about 50 tiers above the former so he'll be well worth it when he takes the field, same can't be said about Greenwood.

Both international players, one has is a Superleague champion, one hasn’t won a trophy since 2012.

| Couldn’t make it tonight but it sounded like he had a cracking game. I’ve just seen the try’s in Sky and his flick pass for Leuluai to go over was sensational.
Sarginson has gone from probably our best player over the two games against HKR and Leeds to now struggling for a spot and that is exactly what we want.

| Short of props tonight so we had to fling the ball about and did it to good effect . Probably over did it at the end and lost 2 try's. Good bit off biff at the end Isa was gonna kill somebody or something or anything lol . Don't know what started it . Hank had a cracker of a game

| Hank did all the things he did last week that kept him in the team and added to it this week.
To see that scoreboard go up in sixes makes a big difference. His D was good again but he also added to this put us in for two tries with good hands and bagged one himself.
Still early days and he may be starting a bit later than some but is doing fine. Hardaker looked miles better from the back fir me seemed much sharper.

| On tonight's game I don't know how Lam could contemplate dropping him.
As has been said, going up in sixes makes a massive difference.
If he can stay free of injury or suspension then the right centre position is his.

| Big test for that right edge and Hank next week. I imagine Isa will be missing, so we may see Faz on that side. Salford with Hastings down that side offer as much threat as anyone. Seen it on TV now the slip pass of Hanks for Tommy's try was quality but the bread and butter stuff for Marshal is in a way more important.

| One of the biggest positives for me of the last two weeks is that we’ve bucked the emerging trend (in the main) of new contracts for players mean they put the cue on the rack. We saw Burgess, Hankinson, Clubb, Smithies and Partington sign new deals a few weeks back yet if anything all have kicked on a gear. I believe Burgess butchered a couple of try’s last night but he was better at Leeds then he’s been for a few weeks. Hankinson may be shining due to getting a proper go in his position but in the Anfield and Nou Camp games his mind looked elsewhere and even the simple things looked a struggle. Tony Clubb has looked like a different player at Hull KR and Leeds and the two youngsters have also kicked on (Partington especially as Smithies has been very consistent from day one).
Little signs that Lam is getting the required levels of motivation out of the squad.

It's going to be a difficult decision for Lam next week. Does he play Hankinson for his goal kicking and defence or Sarge for his attack and running metres.
Hankinson last night only made 18 metres which was the lowest of any Wigan player, Sarge regularly clocks up 100m+ and has a big engine, which helps the forwards.

Hankinson also set up two tries, How often does Sarge even set up one
For Me Sarge only gets back in the side through injury, He is gone next year so let Hanky make the 3 shirt his own, As for Sarge and others helping the forwards maybe if they did that a little less then our lackluster forwards would step up and do their jobs correctly
It was stated last night by Bilko or the other one that we where attacking down the right more than we have in a long time, That never happens when Sarge is there.

| Where Sarginson is playing next year is irrelevant, should we have left Bateman and Sutton out towards the end of last year. Do you want to leave Williams out?

| Hankinson stays at centre for me but Sarginson warrants a spot somewhere. There are two options IMO. One is that Sarge takes Sammuts bench spot to cover as a utility or he comes in at fullback with Hardaker probably taking a wing spot.
I’d go the first option with him covering a number of positions.

That's a good shout.
Personally I'd go Sarge at FB, Hank stays where he is and ZH goes on the wing instead of Marshall.
Interesting to see that, if results go our way over the next week, we could be 4th by the 1st July.

| Marshall has been strapped up since his return from injury and is probably suffering for coming back too soon , due to limited wing options he was needed. I would leave him out and put Sarginson to the wing

| I firmly believe in continuing to play someone who is doing well until they stop doing well or a better option comes along. If we do not need big meters from Hankinson he certainly offers something else.
