Sam Tomkins must be one hell of a player if he's far superior!
Just check the stats between them. Someone is far superior than the other but I think you've got it wrong way round.
Just check stats mate.

Hooker as opposed to halfback? I do not think so. Look over the past 10 years and see who the world's best players have been. They have been half backs or hookers, with the clear edge going for halves.

| As good as Tomkins is, i dont think he would really make it in Australia. I know im proberly going to get my head chewed off but it's my honest opinion. Infact i think its safe to say i doubt ANY British back could make it in the NRL.

Given the right team and enough time, I think Tomkins would flourish. He is not going to be an Andrew Johns or Lockyer type talent, but a solid and impressive back nonetheless.

Last year Richie Myler and Kyle Eastmond had better 'stats' than Tomkins. I think that tells you all you need to know. And btw, i do agree Roby atm, is the best player in the league.

| Tbh, I don't think sam should be MOS. For me, (bearing he keeps his form up) it should be Hodgson with out a doubt. He has been just like pat was last year, if not better, and would be a worthy winner.
P.s, this is just my opinion.

It's only part of the problem, there are much wider issues at work here, these stats could all be so much better if only we could get the right structures and systems in place...

I agree but was just making a point of how well roby has gone this year. His work rate is unreal.
I think the man of steel will be either roby, Tomkins or chase at this moment but the is a lot of rugby to be played.
I like to see the hard working players be recognised in rugby as I think it goes unnoticed at times.

| Sam is just getting going this season after a quiet-ish start to the year by his own very high standards. He's been outstanding in the past few weeks but to be fair Roby has been on fire since round 1 and if the M.O.S was decided now he'd probably win it.
As it is were not halfway through the year yet and there's time for anybody to stake a claim. One things for sure and that's if Sam keeps his form up from the past 3 games players like Roby, Chase and Dureau will have to go some to beat him.

You'll be shot on this board for suggesting anyone from Warrington comes near this award no matter how good they have played. Monaghan and Hodgson could be pivotal in winning the double for us and you'd still have people claiming Sam is in a different league to everyone on the planet. There is no doubt that Sam is a fantastic player but at this stage I would suggest there are at least half a dozen players in with a shout of this including Roby, Sam, Hodgson, Monas, Dureau, Chase and Brough.

I prefer the good hard working players get recognised for their game as much goes unoticed in rugby league to which he made a sarky comment about flair players.
Without these hard working players, the flair players wouldn't have the platform to show flair.

Hard working players are everywhere in the league though whereas real flair players are hard to come by. Roby is still probably front runner for MOS though, as he's more than just a hard worker.
The stats aren't exactly a great measure though. He makes 31 runs from dummy half each game and 37 carries in total, which understandably means most of his metres are from dummy half. The fact that Roby makes 5.3 metres per carry suggests either a) he isn't very effective running the ball in (which is clearly not true) or b) that most of his metres made come from stepping out of dummy half before passing at the line, so those metres aren't necessarily much of a benefit and are more to do with style of play.
