Nearly 2 hours have elapsed since my last post and the usual has happened when I quote the dirty/illegal challenges perpetrated by Leeds/Warrington players that have gone unpunished in recent years....... A deathly silence or have they all just returned whence they came?

Not really, just that conspiracy theories are plain bonkers. Inconsistency and bad mistakes on the other hand are very possible.

That's a good point, but there does seem to be an unusual leniency being shown to Warrington recently. Either they don't get cited for what looked like a very late and high challenge (Carvell), or last year when both Carvell and Morley were banned, but then let off just because they appealed, "conveniently" ready for the big match against Wigan the following week.

It does strike me as strange that a committe can look closely at video evidence, make a firm decision on a ban, and then change their minds just because the player or club asked them to look at it again, doesn't it? It certainly diminshes any confidence people can have in their initial decision.

so spear tackles are acceptable so long as it doesnt break the attackers neck? swinging arms are acceptable as long as they dont concuss the attacker? late shots are acceptable as long as long as the attacker isnt flat out afterwards?

im not sure you have thought that one through fully, the rules and laws of taxckling are there to protect the players involved, breaking those rules will not ALWAYS result in injury, but the chances of injury are greatly increased when the ill-discipline/bad techniquesinvoledin those kinds of tackles are used.

regardless what you think of the lima tackle (thich or knee) the RFL have said that Lima's tackle was dangerous and deemed it to be below the knee, that is written in the rule book as an illigal tackle. get over it.
i think you should count yourselves lucky that Lima only got a one match ban due to previous in the same area before the panel.

I never really get involved in the debates on whether it was or wasn't - but this is an utterly unfounded and a ridiculous decision.

Think you will find after this weekend even if they do concuss the player they are ok! If they are late then that is the same case. If they are late and high and knock out the player even better!!

Saw Carvell's 'tackle' on Sky last night - appalling. No idea how he got away with it.

Didn't see him having a go at Ferriol though, just the scrum half. How very strange.

Incidentally, saw Lima's stats for the Leeds game. 35 tackles, 0 misses. Very impressive.

With regard to the Carvell incident, "The report from the RFL states that the player was committed to the tackle". Dureau had only just released the ball when carvell hit him (on the shoulder) it was the impact with the floor that knocked him out.

I very much doubt that - did they have medical evidence form a Dr T. Smith?

It's strange that the radio commentators thought it was a horrendous challenge and everyone on here who has seen it on Sky has the same opinion ( apart from Warrington fans).

The lack of consistency by the RFL is appalling - imagine the outcry if Lima or Joel were to commit such a late and high challenge, resulting in the hospitalisation of an opponent.

It just looked a lot worse than it actually was. it happened about 30 ft away from me.

But the question is - Did it look worse than a properly executed tackle around the thighs of a man who is still moving forward, which then slips down (as the guy's legs keep moving) and ends up around his ankles, at which point the tackle is released precisely to avoid causing injury?

im not defending carvell if it was high or late, i havent seent the incident yet, but carvell has no previous this season, lima has, theres no point complaining about a one match ban and to suggest there is a conspiricy. get over yourselves, you really think the RFL would want to conspire against the most famous brand in RL? or even have the ability to? we all know the RFL are a bunch of idiots but to suggest conspiricy as some wigan fans on here have done is laughable

Where have a said its a conspiracy? I said its inconsistant. Ganson sin binned 2 players for fighting. A few weeks ago he decided that it was just a pen (With a Wigan player invovled who should have been binned!)
I cant wait till a Wigan player does a challenge like Carvell!!
As for previous. Why are we now taking previous as this season! Lima had no previous before being given a ban for a chicken wing, Not the only chicken wing to be penalised this season, but the only one to be given a ban, again inconsistant!

Lima tackled round the legs if thats poor technique I want my money back for my level 2 course from the RFL because the 2 coaches on that course said thats how to teach kids to tackle!!
