So beating one of the best sides around at Wembley infront of 80k+ people, live on BBC tv, to win the most Historical cup competition still going in RL, to be awarded a trophy we have lifted on 17 other occasions, for the club to get loads of money from the extra shirt sales etc. it would bring, not to mention the prize money, the publicity, the day out....... that doesn't matter to you? Would you not be proud to see 30k Wiganers inside Wembley with us lifting the trophy? This last happened in 96! I have never seen us lift the challenge cup at Wembley, it matters to me!
I am a Wigan fan. I want us to win every single game we play, that includes the cup, I want to see us lift the challenge cup, we havn't done it for 9 years.
I am one of those who will agree that the league is now much, much bigger and more important and given the choice it would be the league every year for the next 10 years over 10 years of winnning the challenge cup..... but that doesn't stop me from wanting us to win it!

Exactly! That includes the nines comp! The reserves and the academy!
I'm pretty sure everyone wanted to win the WCC! So why wouldn't everyone want to win the CC!
WE WANT OUR TROPHY BACK!

Getting another shot at making RL history and getting another star above the badge is what matters to me.
We’ve amassed records no one will ever touch in the CC and lets face it the CC=Wigan RL. No one will ever come close to doing what we’ve done and for me it’s a case of been there done that and lets push forward in other comps.
Back to back titles for the first time in a very long time is what gets me going not playing against Barrow.

Thats the thing you don't have to beat the best sides at Wembley. Ok Wire beat Leeds last year but before that they only had to get passed a poor Wigan side and beat Hudds. Saints have had massive games against the likes of Quins in the final FFS.

The BBC do a half d job promoting it and just because it's an old trophy doesn't mean it's still relevant today. The fact the championship teams simply can’t provide decent opposition these days really deflates the whole comp imo. It’s just like having a set of SL playoffs but with everyone in there.

So am I but I’m also realistic in thinking that it’s been a while since a team won the double and I’d rather really concentrate on back to back titles this year before I start wanting to win the cup.

It's a personal thing for me, I started watching Wigan in 94 when I was 7 and my earliest memories of us is from watching the Cup games against Widnes and Oldham with my Dad, so the CC has that bit of magic at times.
Plus, he went to all 8 in a row finals and I'd quite like to be at Wembley for one of ours!

| Gutted about this. If we'd drawn Barrow away it would have been a better day out and the Ultras would have been able to put a big display on.

Saints have never played Quins in the final. You can only play whats infront of you though.....
BBC do a pretty bad job but it's still live on their for everyone to see, I want them all to see Wigan win.
We can do the double, we have a strong enough squad.
I can't believe you are even having this debate, you are a Wigan fan, lets see Wigan win every game we play.

Sorry it was Hudds at Twickenham when they beat them heavily.
I simply don't think we can win the clean sweep and i know others feel that way also

| I went to all our great Wembley finals and it was very special and something I will never forget.
I personally would love us to get to the new wembley and lift the cup again.
In fact each year we book our summer holidays around avoiding the CC final date just so we can be sure we will be there if we make it.

| The magic of the CC is what makes it special. I've only ever been to Wembley once as a kid and we lost to Sheffield. And like many other kids it inspired me, I wanted to play for Wigan in a cup final and win. It's not a surprise that we have a generation of young lads playing for us with incredible talents because it is likely that they felt the same way when they were young. Without our past successes at physically lifting trophies at such historic places we wouldn't have such an abundance of good quality young players.
Wigan at Wembley goes hand in hand. I want to experience going to Wembley and Wigan winning the cup and I'm surprised that there's people who would rather win the hubcap than win the Challenge Cup.

| hmm, would of prefereed to get a team we could beat, then play you when we get all the money, and no season tickets get in etc,
but both of my teams playing, should be a good game, hopefully we can fill the north stand and see what we can do,
hope you lot can get a good crowd and make it a good atmosphere, hopefully there is a bit of noise made from both ends, cause realisticly the result isnt why im there, its just a day out

| We'll bring a couple of thousand I would expect (depending on how we play from now to the match). Maybe even more.
We made up half of the crowd when we played Saints in the QF at Knowsley Road last season.
The daft thing is that in football, an away draw against a top division side is a 'dream draw'. However, we'll probably make very little from this tie as most of the crowd will get in for free. Most of the gate receipts we will get a share of will be from the travelling Barrow fans !
Only in Rugby League ..........

and imo, giving tickets to season ticket holders is good, we wouldnt get a big crowd there if it didnt happen imo.

I think it's an age thing at the moment. I think younger fans are dismissing the cup somewhat simply because we've have ZERO big cup ties at home since we moved in 2000. Still think thats remarkable considering we've generally always got to at least the Quarter Final Draw since we moved. I'm desperate for a Leeds, Saints or Wire at home in the cup but still it eludes us.
