| For a team that has won the Super League for 3 straight seasons had their worst season for quite awhile have Senior & Hall selected yet Bridge, Atkins & Gleeson have all been better than him and Goulding & Riley where both far better than Hall this season the try scoring charts prove that.

He's definitely had a better season than 2007 IMO, he has been phenomenal this year - especially given the injuries he's had around him.

| Can't really argue with that to be fair.
Even though we're the top 3, it's nice to see 10 of the 13 from Lancashire teams.

You can't just base how well someone has played on tries scored alone. There are plenty of factors that can lead to someone getting more tries than just the player being better. Even then Hall has only got two fewer tries than Riley and Goulding but he's made more meters, far more tackle busts and a similar number of clean breaks. I think he deserves it,
Senior on the other hand

Same thought crossed my mind. Agree with other comments about Senior that if he can get in we must have very few top centres in the game. Think the same applies to Wellens as well at FB.

I think if you take the line that Tomkins can't be picked at FB, Wellens is a fairly clear shout. Which is pretty lame to be honest.

Hall has played [u5 more games[/u than Goulding. He has also made many more errors (over double) and missed nearly three times as many tackles (39 v 17, a pretty shocking stat in its own right IMO), made far fewer runs from dummy half. When you look at the whole picture and average things out Hall does not stand out as better in many stats by a great deal and in some is far worse.

I know that.
I'm not saying he's been better than either of them just that to me he has been outstanding this year for us, the difference in us when he's on the field like.

Yeah I know sorry, he's had a good year for you lot.
I think that will be your big weakness next season - hooker. I think MM is an average Joe and TL is better than average (I know he's played there in a WC winning Kiwi side, but he's no Buderus/Monaghan/Roby etc, in my opinion of course).

You just gave me quite an amusing image of Roby plying hooker for new zealand
I agree totally, i think we will miss him a lot, i don't think MM is up to it really, Piggy runs the game for us really.

I think you will find not many will disagree with you.
Although there has been some rumours that we're in talks with Ennis so hopefully we are looking to strengthen in that area if Sam stays at fullback with Tommy and Finch staying in the halves.

Is that possible under the quota? Would be a cracking signing.

Id be tempted to agree, although one thing Tommy does have is some of the best footwork in the game to beat a man
Does not make him an excellent hooker though granted

Even if it is, we'd probabaly be ruining english rugby league and the international teams chances or something.

Finally, a Wiganer who sees the big picture
I suppose it would depend who you released, but if you signed him (as things stand) you'd have have Richards, Roberts, Carmont, Finch, Tommy, Hoffman, Lima, Ennis, Phelps (and Hansen if you count him) unavailable for England. Certainly seems like too many but I don't know the rules in any real detail.
Anyway back on topic - didn't mean to derail.

Phelps would have to leave if we were going to bring Ennis in.
Hansen? Come on we explain to you every time that the guy's English, he was born in Salford. It's just that his fathers Samoan therefore giving him the right if he want's to play for Samoa..

no no no lets derail.
i wouldn't count hansen really as he came from our academy etc.
Phelps will probabaly be on his way.
Yeah it does sound lkek a lot but then we do have a ot of other quality english players but a few who maybe arn't quite ready yet to take the first team place,so why not sign a couple of overseas players for a bit while those players are developing. People arn't seeing the bigger picture, because in the long run it's probabaly better for the game.
back on topic. Leeds board a couple moaning about O'loughlin? how!? not only has he been the best 13 by a long way but he's been one of the best all round players in super legaue this season, and for a fair few a MOS contender.

When the signing of the Melbourne trio was announced Leneghan said that we will still have one quota spot available to use if we wish. It's a lot more complicated than just being able to play for England though, with being federation trained and English residents and all sorts of other loopholes being factored in. I'm pretty sure that Richards, Leuluia and Carmont don't count on the overseas quota for one reason or another. I know Hansen doesn't

Correct. Assuming Phelps goes, which seems probable, we'll have 4 of 5 allowed overseas players: Roberts, Lima, Hoffman & Finch. The same 4 count as "non federation trained".
