| It doesn't just happen at Leeds. It's happened at Widnes and Hull too, and you can bet that on many occasions, it's not even people who have been to the games, just idiots after causing trouble. That's the way society is these days...

Walking back to the car with a few more Wigan fans on Kirkstall Lane and this Leeds couple (middle aged) shout "hope you get run over by a bus" before jumping into their car, obviously not used to losing home games !

| While I do not condone anything been thrown at supporters coaches I can't help thinking that the way some of our "Fans" were outside the ground contributed to it. After the game I was embarrassed to be a wigan Fan walking around the ground due to the chanting that went on towards Leeds Fans.
A small number of our "fans" calling Leeds fans scum outside after a cracking game is bound to cause trouble in one way or another.
I just wish some of the "Young Uns" would remember this and not put other fans in an awful position of being caught up in the situation.

obviously not been to too many matches this season then lol
As for the following post I totally agree, its a fine line between banter and winding people up and its not always young uns who don't know the difference unfortunately. In 20 odd years of going to matches at Headingley I've not seen any trouble in the ground and I don't think its fair that they should have a reputation as scum, unfortunately some of the fans who have been posting on this forum are playing up well to the name. That said however the issue with coaches being bricked is something that has been happening for as long as I can remember at Leeds and at the very least there should be stewards outside the ground. It may not be actual fans and it may not technically be the responsibility of the club but I think they have a moral duty to ensure the safety of fans travelling to games.
I just hope the people who were on the coach aren't injured too badly and aren't put off travelling to games but the attitude that we're whiter than white and they're all scum will only increase divides between fans and make incidents like this more frequent.

| I know it happens both ways and I know it's only a small number of fans on both sides, but I just wished fans thought of the consequences.
Rivalry should be left in the ground! We are Rugby fans and this is a family game....

Surely it should be the Police's job to police outside of the ground and not stewards? Inside the ground is Leeds responsibility to expect them to have control over the whole of Headingley is asking a lot. Would surely make more sense to have a police officer stand alongside every coach? Or something along those lines.

The police were saying they had never had a problem with anything like this before. but Walton Swift (the coach company) were saying they are only going to go to Leeds again with a police escort. Having an officer besides each coach is no good as the coach was moving when hit!

yeah possibly but at clubs with a coach parks they'd have stewards there anyway and they're way cheaper than police. In general anyone in a bright jacket can be enough to act as a deterrant. As for the police saying they've not had this problem before that's clearly not the case.

Welcome to policing in Leeds. They only deal with persistent problems and even then they don’t get dealt with very well. Next time your in Leeds invite Wigan’s tastiest doormen and if the Chavs who bricked your bus return they'll soon clear.

Please don’t say it was Gary Connolly. I was sat near him at the match.
It’ll be beyond belief if Leeds fans have already forgotten that he played for us as well.

| There's one particular guy who I ALWAYS see causing trouble at Leeds games. He has a bald head, is in his mid-late forties, and always stands right infront of the West stand after the game waving his arms gesturing 'come-on', shouting and giving gestures to the Wigan fans. There's been at least two occasions where I've actually seen him in a fight with Wigan fans in the stand.

Correct
That's the 2nd time I've seen that person do the same thing.
Whilst on the subject, I commented a couple of years ago adter we Beat Leeds in the CC there that it doesn't make sense to me to Let the Leeds fans from the South Stand to walk off in front of the Away End.
Whichever way you look on it, Away fans over celebrating and Goading the Leeds Fans OR Leeds fans reacting Badly to a defeat etc, It's a Recipe for Trouble.
Whilst watching afore mentioned Baldy of Friday and waiting for the crowds to dissappear at the end of the Match I must have seen at least 3 or 4 groups of Leeds Fans walking along the front just sticking the "V's" telling the Wigan fans to F off etc etc.
Now I'm sure it happens the other way, but why do the club allow it?
You can't get in through the South Stand Terracing and stand on the West Terracing so Why let the South Stand Fans Leave by it?

Its a good point, well two good points actually - and here is your solution...
Report your thoughts to the Leeds club at info@leedsrugby.com although to be honest I've always found phil.daly@leedsrugby.com to have more of a result, he's the press officer at the club, just ask him to forward it to whoever is in charge of crowd control on a matchday.
You'll get an answer and they do react to supporter suggestions especially on crowd safety issues, its only two weeks ago that they were responding to complaints about foul language chanting in the ground - if you draw their attention to the bald idiot who is constantly goading fans, and pinpoint where he usually does it, then they will alert their team of security officers (not stewards) who are usually very effective at dealing with this sort of thing.

| after such a great game nobody could blame wigan fans for leaving the ground in jubilant mood. But leaving the ground singing "we all hate Leeds scum" just wasn't required. Then goading three blokes who were clearly much bigger, older and more game for a fight was at best stupid. As was the very sad Danny Dyer wannabe I over heard trying to strategically position his somewhat unwilling troops in preparation for the impending assault by the following Leeds fans. Funnily enough the Wigan fans pace seemed to quicken as they got near their minibus. Hopefully this description is accurate enough for those concerned to recognise themselves and feel suitably embarrased. You are idiots and were very clearly not up to matching the Leeds fans physically who were very, very serious about catching you up and giving you a good slap and I have to be honest, I really don't think I'd have bothered intervening.

Looks like you was one of the lucky ones and got to confront people who just had an adrenaline rush to the head in a heat of the moment kind of thing.
I’ve met failed peacemakers who look like they’ve come from a conflict in a war zone rather than the parade of shops on my estate. All my mate was doing was asking for some Chavs to stop goading this pensioner for no reason in her own home.
Unfortunately it’s a broken country we live in and you’ve got to be careful on who you talk to. We have a social underclass (I'm one of them) that has given up of dreaming of a better existence thanks to any multi-million investment for the poor not going into the pockets of the poor. Any grant that is suppose to regenerate sink council estates is just a front to launder money into the Cayman Island bank account. When people are questioned on where this money has gone buzz words start to appear like the recession has eaten it up.
Makes my blood boil.
